There's so much to unpack about echoshiftings post. He's always been one of the worst, shit-stirring, ban-baiting assholes on ResetEra. It's clear from the 'some posters should get special consideration' that he puts himself into that category. It's why he's gotten away with being a colossal prick for so long.

But the line 'I like to think my absence would be felt by at least a couple of people' made me chuckle.

Absolutely NO ONE gives a fuck when someone stops posting. No one. And that applies to every single forum ever since the Internet was created, decades and decades ago.

Even on Era, when someone 'prominent' like 'TheHunter' from PoliEra gets banned, the members throw their toys out of the pram for a few hours, the Mods come in and tell them to shut their mouths or they'll be banned too, those full of rage suddenly remember they value their accounts more than loyalty to their e-friend, and by the next day everything is back to normal. No one cares when someone is banned or stops posting.

That doesn't mean people on forums don't have sympathy or empathy. 

It just means we're on the internet. This isn't the real world with real, inter-personal relationships. It means we are nothing more than words on a screen. Rather than mourning the disappearance of an e-friend, people will be watching a video on YouTube or jerkin' the sausage to porn, 5 seconds later.

The same is true, even here on TheBore. I like everyone here. Yet, as I type this post, I vaguely remember there was someone posting 20-30 times a day, who then suddenly stopped. I had to check. It's 'TheAnnoyedCanadian'. He hasn't posted since the beginning of December. I liked his posts, but I don't miss him. I haven't met him, I don't know a single thing about the man behind the username. But, I do hope he's out there, living his best life.

Same applies to everyone here. If Benji suddenly decided to shut down this forum, fly to Cuba and spend the rest of his life snorting cocaine of hookers tits, I wouldn't be weepy and devastated over the loss of this forum. I would hope everyone else here would also be snorting cocaine of hookers tits in your own cities and countries too and living your best life. 

It's absolutely dangerous to anchor your entire life and personality to a forum like echoshifting does. And ridiculous. A forum isn't something you base your existence and identity around. A forum is just a playground, somewhere to chill, blow off some steam, laugh a little, and that's it. On an insane nuthouse like Era, you're always only one post away from being hit with a perma from a Mod or Admin who has a grudge against you for unknown reasons.

Not one to dismiss small wins, but the progress is anemic, especially in big games. Also accompanied by absolutely wretched things like that....uh... I am however very happy to see more women be visible on the development side as well as the big jump in visibility of women in the indie space. Like Spider-Man, Deadpool 3, and even the Scarlet Witch and Doctor Strange stuff. The larger issue seems to be nobody cares about the new characters? 

Was going to compare it to Saved by the Bell The New Class. But I had to fact check myself here. The New Class ran for seven seasons compared to the original’s four. When did that happen. Who kept watching it.

XIII was a huge misfire and the start of Final fantasy going from an automatic critical darling to a series struggling to relive its glory days. Rebirth is a huge step back in the right direction but the series hasn't recovered since. I think going back to that time is completely unnecessary.

Tomb Raider Angel of Darkness nearly killed the franchise and took it away from the creators. That game is getting a remaster next year. So the BS of "game bad and they should bury it" means absolutely fuck all.

Have to say idiots like zeovgm make me happy that I stopped watching Marvel movies with the first Captain America (which was quite lame), only exception is when my nephew wanted to watch Thor 3 when we went to the cinema as a family.
I didn't even do it on purpose because I am some kind of movie snob. Just so much stuff came out shortly after each other and I felt like you needed to watch everything in order to get the whole experience, something I just didn't do.

On the flip side, I was too old when Harry Potter came out and only watched like half of the first movie as well. With the drama on resetera, there I do feel like I missed out a bit.
