Interstingly, both Love and Deepspace and Infinity Nikki, two of the most popular femme coded games in the market are made in China. You don't really get these overtly "girly" games in the west. Female characters in western games have to be as "badass" and gender neutral as possible. Pretty clothes? Shiny decorations? Simping over husbando? Not allowed in mainstream games. You gotta be a sassy veteran dressing in full armour otherwise nobody takes you seriously.

This rings pretty true. Name me a AAA game that's as unashamedly girlie as infinite Nikki?

It’s interesting insofar as other media is diverse in appeal. Like, recently Barbie and Wicked were two big successes movies. You’re not seeing big games appeal to that audience.

And doing research doesn't necessarily mean you have awareness. What I mean by this is that I don't expect, say, a marine biologist to inherently be aware of the major contradictions of capitalism and their own behaviors thay conform to that system just because they are neck deep in the act of researching. Rosa researching the laws and history of a place to lend credence and inspiration to a preexisting story does not inherently mean he would have been expressing awareness, much less a desire, to pursue themes related specifically to decolonialism at the time of writing. Indeed, I can't imagine awareness of this process was all that high outside of militant African, Indigenous, and Asian circles.

The Ginger Giant Hypocrite

Exciting honestly. I'm UL20 and have just done the first ascension so I can break the lvl40 gates. Also Data Bank 9 and about 17hrs in so far. Also gave the Tower of Adversity a one-shot attempt since it just unlocked and resets in a couple hours. Got 11/12 on the base node so not quite all the currency but a nice amount of pulls for the sake of having a go! It's been a great time so far, the world is fun to explore and combat is super satisfying. I like the characters and bugs/dub issues aside it's got me curious to see where it goes. That 2.0 is an improvement in general makes me happy that whatever I'm enjoying now, I'll probably be enjoying even more the further in I get.

Also, Scrooge McDuck is a pretty lousy capitalist. He cared so little for accumulating capital he kept his wealth as physical objects (at least he wasn't dumb enough to keep most of it in paper currency) in a big vault so he could swim around in it or wasted it on adventures for his nephews instead of investing for common market returns. You think John D. Rockefeller built Standard Oil by swimming around in bullion?

So what were illegal slave plantations in named locations in the 1908 comics are now unspecified "business ventures" in unspecified locations.

As for FantasticToma, Germany is pretty down bad right now so I can see why he is triggered by $3000 GPUs. The cost of energy is very high, mainly because their attempt at wind and solar energy failed. They can't really compete with China or the United States anymore because production is too expensive.

Because of their political decisions there is also no easy way back to prosperity and they're falling further and further behind. The Germans were actually quite pissed when the Ukrainians came over with their expensive sports cars and SUVs when Russia invaded.

As for $3000 GPUs, they are a waste of money but they do keep their value. So if you buy a $3000 GPU and sell it when the next generation releases, you'll easily get 75% - 80% or more of the value back. So in that sense $3000 GPUs are really just $1000 GPUs.

Is that from the Bombie the Zombie one? He hired mercenaries to wipe out an African village to start a rubber plantation. It's portrayed as the worst thing he ever did.

I don't know what you are talking about. I thought I made myself pretty clear. Western videogames are ashamed of letting girls be girls. You talk about combat, but how come almost every prominant western game with female protagonist always has to be about combat? (The only one that isn't is The Sims, and it's the most popular game among female players). Maybe girls have other interests beside slaying monsters? Maybe some of the those interests are different from what boys usually like? Or maybe even when slaying monsters, some girls prefer to look pretty while doing it? I know a lot of female players who play all sorts of videogames that don't care about realism as much as you do. I think a lot of western videogames with female protagonists are not made by women, and not targeting women. They are made by men who project their own interests onto women, and they pat themselves in the back for having female representation, even though they fail to actually attract female players to their game.

Made by the same company as well, who were (at least a couple of years ago) majority women. I get and relate to what you mean, I think the contention is like you say that a lot of the games for people who do prefer the realism are still designed with men in mind so those in decent armour are still rare. Though I'm with you that prominent, high budget and well produced games in the West shy heavily from being feminine in ways that target women as a primary audience and concern.

Which is why I've found the Nikki series a breath of fresh air since discovering it. A browse across the Love, Shining or Infinity Nikki subreddits and you’ll see a ton of women relieved to have a game series that’s decidedly feminine and pretty without creeping sexualisation or male pandering. Something that pays attention to the physics of clothes and not the boobs underneath them.

a down-to-earth thoughtful man who lived in the middle of nowhere and submitted all these comics by mail...never knowing the wide appeal, never really getting much feedback, just quietly crafting this amazing world by himself

disney may have kept him in the dark so they wouldn't have to pay him more, but it worked in the comics' favor, there was nothing to impede his creativity

I only have one person on ignore, and that's because I have it on pretty good authority they were actively trying to goad me into arguments so they could report my posts with all of their friends in an attempt to get me banned.
