Oh yeah, I forgot to note in my Alien Romulus post above...we get it, one of the core themes in Alien films is rape. You don't have to make EVERYTHING a vagina and you don't have to penetrate every single vagina shaped object. Jesus, it's very clearly a fetish in this film. Try being a little subtle.

Randomly catched the last half of Toy Soldiers.

This movie just gets better with time.

I see Fall Guy is on Prime. Is it worth watching? I got a bunch of weed and need some light fun movies that don't matter if I get too high. lol

Notes on Kraven the Hunter as it played in the background and I barely paid attention.

- every third word in the script is: hunt, hunter, or hunting.
- there are talented actors from indie movies in it that do not try one bit.
- main actor constantly walks around with the invisible lat pose.
- The Chameleon says “I’ve always been a chameleon”.
- The Chameleon mimics kraven’s face but he’s a foot shorter so it’s a weird giant head like Goldeneye 64.
- The Rhino asks “do you know why they call me Rhino?” before turning into a rhino.
- Kraven’s mom was in a mental institution for spider paranoia and it’s genetic?
- Kraven is Lion-Man. Half man. Half lion.
- Apparently lions can survive jumping out of a skyscraper and pull down helicopters.

The first one at least has the good grace to be 85 minutes long.

I watched it on a plane. It was fun, but predictable and dumb. I /did/ still laugh a few times. I might have enjoyed it more on a big screen.

Had a workprint of Fast and Furious 1 so I watched it as I did some work. It’s 99% identical to the theatrical release, music aside, except the best scene in the movie is missing. When SWAT raids Johnny Tran.

Sometimes reshoots get a bad rep. When they hear the Captain America movie is still undergoing reshoots, they automatically assume it’s dogshit. Maybe they’re adding in a scene of an FBI guy choke slamming a Vietnamese gangster?

I actually enjoy Paul WS Anderson films. Bautista probably needs to be more discerning in his quest to be a serious actor. He has been at least good, sometimes great, in all of his roles so far. Milla still getting work from hubby, I still am smitten with her.

This will be a figurative trash fire, featuring several literal trash fires.

I rewatched Inside Man, which I had positive memories of.

I am sad to report that in my old age, this movie is kinda weird and sucks? Like, they portray Denzel Washington's detective as super clever and seeing the matrix, but like...if he had done nothing at all the result would've been the same? Same with Jodie Foster's "fixer" character.

Well, Raiders of the Lost Ark is a classic, and things would have turned out similarly if Indy hadn't been involved. I recently watched The Big Sleep for the first time, and it's unclear what even happened in that movie. So… whatever?

Now that you mention it, I got all 4 Indy films on 4K Blu Ray and watched Raiders of the Last Ark last weekend.
Picture quality is great as is the sound. Film holds up well too but it has a lot of that old movie sillyness in some scenes, especially the action scenes which are almost like a stage play and some bits like the cabin scene are put together quite sloppily.

It's kind of strange how these days the Nazis are portrayed as this highly capable evil empire, while in those days they were comic book villains at best.

Overall this movie doesn't make sense in the slightest and every character makes decisions that make you go "why would you do that" but that makes it very fun.
Friend of mine hadn't seen it since he was a kid so he had a blast. I still find the ending a bit weak though but I guess Lucas had written himself into a corner?

The next one Temple of Doom is probably my favorite just because of how different it is.

I thought that for many years as well, but eventually the intent clicked with me: While Raiders is aping old serials about fighting ratzis, but Temple of Doom is a reconstitution of the serials which saw all foreign elements as exotic and distrustful or worthy of suspicion. It's essentially trying to take a safe route towards old-school orientalism, with Indy as the white savior for which that era of media (or at least serialized media) is known.

With all that in mind, I like it for what it is now, though it is even more problematic now than in the time of its original release.

Mission Impossible Dead Reckoning

Good but weaker than the previous two by the same director. Once again a “part 1” situation coloring my thoughts. Speaking of Temple of Doom, Grace’s character sometimes took me back to the lady in that. Or Cameron Diaz in that Tom Cruise movie where he’s not-Ethan Hunt.

Knight and Day — I enjoyed that film, thought it's essentially not-Ethan-Hunt-but-totally-Ethan-Hunt, as you said.

Dead Reckoning did /not/ need to be a two-parter. It barely worked as a story as it is, it's just an excuse to string together stunts they thought would be cool. I am a huge fan of M:I 3 through Fallout, and M:I DR pt.1 was inferior to any of those preceding films.

Dead Reckoning spoiler talk

Spoiler:  (click to show)
the Gabriel angle was just odd. Guy has been doing terrorism for hire these past 30 years. He crossed paths with Ethan pre-IMF, when Ethan was a criminal himself? So did they work together? Then in the past year or two, a super sentient AI was born and Gabriel became a loyal zealot solider for it?

Will it be answered in part 2? Likely. But for nearly three hours you don’t have much to latch onto.

I want to see this movie, as I enjoyed the Bruce Willis version of The Day of the Jackal. It's weird though - is the whole Eddie Redmayne version a shot for shot remake of the original, or just this sequence?

The new one is a TV mini series, parts of it are close but there's a lot of filler inserted too and they've changed some things out for modern stuff

I loved it as a kid, but when I rewatched them all for the first time in decades, it’s like Jesus Christ, will someone stop that woman screaming? I really disliked it.
