Interesting to note, yesterday and today have gifted us a trove of culture war flashpoint threads (Dragon Age director leaving, Sony cancelling live service games in response to Concord, New Star Wars show bombing, Cap 4 trailer, etc.) and our boy ZeoVagina hasn't rallied to the front lines. I wonder if the recent attention has him spooked, or if there's some behind the scenes discord drama, I suppose it's too much to hope that we'd have an inside man on those discords?

Similar to Jeffery, they will fervently fight for the most basic of slop (Star Wars and Marvel) but abandon ship without a word as soon as the tide turns against them (they're nowhere to be seen in the thread about outlaws or that kid's tv show bombing). I've tried to find accounts under the name Crossing Eden across social media but no luck, which fair play to them displaying some semblance of internet savvy. I recall some posters either here or on the KF thread claiming they're a Ubisoft community manager, is there anything that lends credence to that or is it purely speculation based on their Ubi ball washing? I find them utterly fascinating.

One of the biggest misunderstandings left of center is about why people believe what they do. Liberal intellectuals tend to view people primarily as rational actors who assess the information in front of them and make decisions based on what they're presented with. They see the far-right media and culture machine as a top-down operation. The right media creates disinformation, misinforms the public, the public makes bad decisions (or decisions the liberal doesn't want them to).

The liberal therefore simply stands up and states some facts, and reminds people to be smart and check their sources, then assumes their job is done. People are now informed, and good decisions will follow.

But the Tea Party, or the new jingoism of Regan's America, or the Southern Strategy, were effective not because of misinformation or lies, but because they identified what people wanted to hear and told it to them. It's that simple. People were handed narratives that fit existing culture, biases, and feelings. The right got very very good at connecting with people by listening to them and considering the feelings they expressed.

The left ceded the grass roots connection on the ground when it became convenient to do so and focus on raising money and funding political campaigns remotely. Because they didn't understand the value of staying connected to the culture of the average person. The right taking over social media is just the inevitable result of them knowing they had to keep giving people want they wanted to hear (and steering them towards what the right wanted while doing so) so they took advantage of the medium as it evolved.

And I've been 100% guilty of this as well. Because I'm the type of person who is willing to adjust my views if I'm shown facts and information from solid sources even if it doesn't agree with my original worldview. I often assume the majority of the public assesses information the same way, but they don't. We all have some irrational tendencies at some level, but I keep assuming the majority of the country approaches core issues with a rational frame of mind. Like if someone denies election results and commits insurrection that should automatically disqualify them from being president again, especially when there's zero remorse for those actions. But nope. 78 million did not see that as disqualifying and another X million that didn't bother to vote this time around.

I still struggle to understand how so many people can just hand wave away an insurrection and election denialism. But yeah people like me just don't understand how the majority of the country thinks and how they process information in relation to their feelings. it very much was a "vibes" and feelings election, but Trump won those feelings, not Kamala. For a long time, Democrats have been depicted as the "mommy" party and the Republicans are the "daddy" party. But aside from some rhetorical and performative posturing by a few right wing chuds, the roles have actually been reversed where Republicans are almost exclusively feeding off the feelings of voters and not their rational mind. And Democrats appear to be completely disconnected from the feelings of a large portion of the country and can only appeal to people who have had an equivalent of a college education and know how to process information in a certain way.

I'd say he's too aggressive for a community manager, that would too easily blow up in his face if anyone connected him to it. 
Though it is amazing how he is never ever critical of ubi games. Like at best he's critical of an older game to highlight that the current one is so much better.
The way he just abandons ship is also wild and definitely fits into what I've seen from astroturfing.
