Why does anyone care about breaking Twitter embeds in old threads?

No one is going to them anyway.

Uhm, chuddie? It's important for the Palestine/Gaza thread and the Ukraine thread. They need to be able to go through old tweets from unverified sources.

What are our options for supporting Palestinian emancipation if this ceasefire falls through?
i don't know what would be involved but imo its far more realistic at this point to setup some sort of fund/system that relocates all Palestinians out of Gaza/West Bank into somewhere else. There are a total of 5m Palestinians who live between the two areas. If a fund was created that had say 5-15 billion dollars, which is literally chump change for big projects. I'm sure there are a few countries out there that would accept 5-15 billion to resettle 5m people.

Yes, it means Israel "wins", they get to keep all that territory and move in all their settlers and they will celebrate and blah blah blah but end of the day the war is over, no more genocide, and a few million people can restart their lives in peace.

Of course it won't happen because people who want to fight for Palestine think it would be "giving up", it removes a lot of political hot buttons that various governments and entities use for their own goals and the idea of using Western money to "solve" genocide is very parochial and imperial and I'm sure a dozen other reasons but dumb me thinks the world is gonna end up spending way, way, way more money in the next decade and hundreds of thousands more civilians will die with no real solution that seems likely. Israel/USA won't allow an independent Palestinian state to exist, Israel has no intention to ever accept Palestinians as Israeli citizens.

One, it's a fucking joke.

Two, learn to read the fucking tea leaves.

The times we are living in are going to be viewed as a massive inflection point. We are all in for a tumultuous decade; whether it's class strife, technological disruption, global resource scarcity, climate issues, etc, all these things are coming home to roost all at once. But income inequality and "Luigi" vigilante attacks are probably the most direct example of this societal upheaval in action.

Era has made it nearly a decade so far, but if that gif was all it takes for a ban here, of one of the more active community members, there's no way this place is going to survive the next decade.

Okay so I am going to start this off by saying I have this weird feeling. I cannot place it, it's not paranoia, it's not being scared. It's like some kinda detachment, it's so hard to put my finger on. I wanna rant for a second, it may not make total sense but I need to get it out.

So, like many of you I see the world as a terrifying place right now. I feel left out of a larger cultural zeitgeist that I was not aware of or have just not been part of. Maybe that's my own little bubble I have been in, but isn't everyone in their own bubbles these days?

I have this weird background feeling that I am being left behind in a lot of ways. One way are cultural norms, I feel like I am an outsider to what is a cultural norm nowadays (see modern media, movies, tv etc). I mostly consume my hobbies, lots of learning on YouTube. Lots of fact reading, stuff like that. I am not up to date on the latest fashions, cultural happenings and trends. I feel like I am an outsider for not frothing at the mouth over AI, what even is real at this point?

It feels like we are at some inflection point in society where "reality" feels more and more manufactured. I have a good foundation and ground for myself and a sturdy mental home, but I just feel like the world is "off" like I'm not in on some secret. Is anyone else feeling this?

I'm doing alright mentally, holding on. This last election kinda blindsided me. I feel like there are more out there that may empathize with this. Culture has blindsided me. I am okay not being trendy but I just feel like there is some background BS happening that just FEELS off.

I know that some of this has been self imposed by myself and my wife. We have created media boundaries, learned better habits with tech, we have a very very strong community around us and are friends with our neighbors etc. I'm not talking about that, I am talking more about SOMETHING that is happening socially and tech wise. It just feels like we are at a breaking point, something's gotta give.

Thanks for reading, like I said some things seem fucky to me and I can't quite put my finger on it.
Sounds like the dude just turned 30. hmm

What you're feeling friendo, is the slow realisation that the choices and behaviours of people like you and NepNep and Melody and Fat4Cum and kyujijigi and excelsheets the rest of the weirdo extreme left around the world have handed a second term to Trump with a majority in the house, senate and judiciary and the public mandate to just implement it all without any regard for anything your faction of the left says.

In fact, resistance to Trump and his lunatic policies is so fucking low that you're likely to end up with President Vance as your next president and then the real fun will begin.

The Sulzburger family (owners of the far-right New York Times) only values all their assets at twice the value of Reddit. hmm

But it's only owned by that family unlike Reddit which is half owned by two multi-national conglomerates (Tencent and WBD), is this worse or better? Intersectionality is such a tough cookie to crack. Not like this!
