Has there been much backlash towards Gavin Newsom for backtracking on trans sports?
It's underwater even in his own party.
Quote:Polling consistently shows that while Americans don’t condone discrimination, they also don’t support transgender female athletes competing in women’s sports. A January New York Times/Ipsos poll found 79 percent of the public with doubts, including a whopping 67 percent of Democrats.

The problem with the plane analogy is that the trans activists, who were booked to sit down the back, are demanding a seat up front while carrying on like fucking retards in front of the press and the police. The plane can't take off until they shut up and sit down in their assigned seating, but they refuse to move and call it transphobic to try to move them.
Anyone else would have been kicked off the plane by now, but the democrats are too scared to deal with the situation and they look weak to the people watching from home.

Nep doesn't want to fly the plane, she just wants to criticise the pilots and tell them they're doing it wrong while not offering any advice on how to do it better other than, "Read the theory!"

If Trump is against helping Ukraine and ending the imperialist NATO what does it even mean to be a tankie anymore.

I will admit being a dumbass here. Trump was riding the dick of the stock market so hard in the first term, that I always expected he would pull any lever, juice any short-term fuckery, or do anything really to make sure "line goes up" no matter what.
I mean, he was basically treating it like a high score, and IIRC kept claiming credit for gains even after Biden was in the white house.
I don't think he's happy about it going down, but I am truly shocked he is not backpedaling way harder by now.
I think they're all on speed
Overall they're taking bold risks with a potential high pay off. Moving away from quarterly targets and switching to long term growth.
but if it fails

What's the high payoff?
There's no money in russia to replace the money from Europe that he's pissing away

There's no money in russia to replace the money from Europe that he's pissing away The big thing they're trying to accomplish is to move production and investment back to the US. They're basically trying to take on China by offering incentives to US (and foreign) companies to produce and sell their goods in the US and punish those that don't. Mostly because the old model of USAID and foreign investment tied to political reform doesn't really work anymore. It was always assumed that post WW2 the main economic driver was democracy and that capitalist countries would ultimately have to become democracies to avoid collapse but China changed that.
Basically what Apple has been doing, control everything in the supply chain, from materials and parts to production and delivery but applied to the whole US economy.
Countries like the US and China have such wealth in resources, knowledge and manpower that they can do that. When TSMC moves to the United States that $375 billion profit will be stored, taxed and ultimately invested in the United States.
What they fail to realize though and what I've predicted before is that in this calculus Europe ultimately wins. When we are no longer 'forced' to buy from the US, be it software, planes or ammo. We can buy whatever is cheapest or best. When the US can no longer dictate what we sell or to who, we can sell more to China, India etc. .

Well the Crypto and Wall Street guys are certainly starting to 'question' how things are going and secretary of everything Musk is imploding.
If I had to guess, the pressure will mount to replace Musk and maybe Lutnick. There also seems to be little support to annex Canada, Gaza and Greenland.
Rubio has offered assurances that the US won't supply Russia with military aid.
I'm expecting a pivot on Ukraine though because the Russians aren't playing ball either.
Trump is sending Witkoff to Russia.
