I'm going to reduce the scope of your thread to match the OG one, but I am otherwise not objecting (as an admin) to threads of either purpose. (Albeit, as a poster, I feel that "breaking news" of a significant level should get their own threads that can die off naturally.) I'm also unsure about making stickies out of "politics" threads since the norm is now in my hands but we can discuss that (and all other issues) in the constructive feedback thread.
