We're at the tail end of the failed European project. The UK just bailed earlier than everyone else.

When they introduced the Euro the intention was that Europe would become the biggest economy in the world.
25 years later and the EU is sinking fast. China is dropping too and the US is the clear winner.

In the Netherlands we're lucky to have ASML but I only see one or two ways to reverse the trend.

1. Admit that they fucked up, reduce the scope of the micro managing EU regulations and cut taxes significantly to give the money back to the people, hoping that new entrepeneurs will be able to build competitive businesses.

2. Admit defeat of the Euro/Pound Sterling, use dollars for stocks, expensive foreign goods and big corporate contracts instead, use a local currency for consumption and wages to buy every day items.

I'm thinking something along the lines of a Eurodollar.

A seperate currency that is tied to the dollar and a currency that is disconnected from the stockmarket that keeps its value.
The economy doesn't work because people aren't used to 5% - 10% price increases even if wages have caught up fairly quickly.

I'm already seeing the disconnect with Google and other companies increasing prices by 5% - 10% and adding an additional 'currency swap' tax for less valuable currencies.
In Europe you can't just raise your prices mid contract without communicating the change and giving people the option to cancel their services immediately.
The value based thing doesn't work as well either. In the US folks don't see the 10% price increase, they see all the added apps and AI stuff that excites them.
In Europe people wonder why the price of their email has just gone up 20%, feel personally offended by it and the AI makes them worry about their privacy.

Demand is also far lower so increasing prices means already low sales take another hit.

Australia's most "progressive" state government is also its most sanctimonious.

Basically, when you go full lefty retard, you end up dragging everyone else down with you.

Oh, and Victoria is sitting on significant gas reserves, but refuses to develop them for some stupid fucking ideological reason and then the idiots complain that energy prices are too high.

Fuck Victorians.

https://www.abc.net.au/news/2024-05-06/russian-convict-soldiers-return-to-communities-as-free-men/103770698

Quote:One killed his father-in-law, another ate a victim. Then they survived Putin's deadly deal for freedom

A gushing caption details how Nikita Semyanov volunteered for the fatherland's army and took part in a "memorable assault on Bakhmut", Ukraine.

But there's something it doesn't mention: the veteran strangled his father-in-law to death in 2021 and was freed from a maximum-security prison to join the war effort.

......

Last month, Russian media reported a court in the country's Kirov region sentenced Ivan Rossomakhin, a former Wagner soldier, to 22 years behind bars for raping and killing an elderly woman.

He'd been serving a 14-year custodial sentence for a previous murder when he was freed to join Prigozhin's mercenaries. He returned home and killed again.

........

Near Moscow, reports last month emerged of Alexander Glazov — who in 2019 was convicted of giving children instructions online as part of a so-called suicide game — had been freed from prison after fighting for the Wagner group. The articles claimed he was now speaking about the war in schools.

Among the most degenerate returnees would have to be cannibal killer Denis Gorin, who was convicted of four murders and serving more than two decades in an ultra-restrictive "special regime" penal colony before joining the Wagner PMC.

These stories are pretty wild and I recently read that they have also passed a law that basically gives soldiers on leave immunity for any crimes they commit because prosecuting and removing the suspects of the many robberies and murders from the ranks would deplete the military. Many of those killed include cops and low level government officials.

Some experts already see echoes of the 1990s when Moscow was basically the wild west but unlike in those days when it was factions of oligarchs and gangsters fighting a war for control or resources it'll now be chaos with no one holding the strings and a complete breakdown of security will follow.
