How come the people around Trump are on record saying they want a kind of dictatorship or quasi-monarchy because all is doomed and also fuck ukraine putin rules and the normal right wing americans are like 'What do you mean he wants to be a king? God you're so extra '
It's a genuine mystery to me how so many people are apparently cool with a geriatric idiot as a kind of king
Kamala can increase her margins in California but the question is, how can you shift a Trump voter to Harris in the states that matter?
Trump +2 nationally is not just Trump winning the electoral college but Trump winning the popular vote.
Surprise no one has posted the latest Hersh drop.
It’s Michael Baxter level shit.

I'll donate $1000 to any charity you want if Trump wins the popular vote.
$500 to Palestinian Children's Relief Fund and $500 to Friends of the Israel Defense Forces

I heard a NPR piece about the Kids Online Safety Act, and I am just boggled by the lack of specificity that passes for news these days. Like, you may as well hum into the microphone for 5 minutes instead, and I will be exactly as enlightened.
For context: the Kids Online Safety Act is a bill that is very likely to pass with bipartisan support super soon. It basically makes social media platforms more responsible for kids that get groomed, or hooked on drugs, or whatever, via those platforms. It also mandates that they add more parental controls.
Its a hard thing to attack, but it does get criticism from the left for (maybe) hurting LGBTQ+ kids (cuz, of course). Well, let's not be dismissive, let's engage with the points being made here.
Quote:GONYEA: This bill was actually first introduced two years ago. And back then, many advocacy groups believed it might actually endanger young people, possibly by subjecting LGBTQ teens to surveillance through parental controls or by limiting their access to information. But now I understand that some of the groups that opposed it back then are actually getting on board.
FEINER: Yeah, so there's actually a group of LGBTQ+ advocacy groups that have not necessarily given their support to the bill but at least said, we are not going to stand in the way of this bill becoming law any longer because we feel like the changes made at least make us feel like the worst outcomes we were afraid of won't happen as a result of this. But at the same time, you see other groups that feel like that's not enough. They acknowledge that that's a good step forward, but they feel like there's still a long way to go.
GONYEA: OK, to that end, we are going to hear right now from Aaron Mackey. He's a staff attorney at the Electronic Frontier Foundation. He said this to NPR.
AARON MACKEY: Paradoxically, what KOSA does is it removes the ability for teens and children to find information when they are experiencing the very sort of health problems and other problems that KOSA is trying to address. So what I would say is that I - while I appreciate where Congress' intentions are, the result is actually going to be more harmful to kids than helpful.
GONYEA: So again, he used that term KOSA, Kids Online Safety Act. And the things he raises there - these are some pretty fundamental worries about censorship.
This wasn't the specific story I heard, but naturally it has the same issue. I hear stuff like this in modern news stories all the time, vaguely defined impacts that are very quickly judo flipped into concrete harm.
"limits access to information"...what information? Information that only exists online? What kind of info is that? If it's so critical and crucial, why isn't it available in print, in magazines, in free pamphlets everywhere? Why would that information be impacted differently than say, a webpage on "how to build a birdhouse"?
"parental surveillance"...you mean "parenting"? If not, what makes the two concepts distinct here?
And yet it just sorta passes unchallenged. I remember everyone crying that the moderators weren't grilling Trump in the debate, but everyone watching already knows he's blustering and lying and shooting from the cuff...there's nothing to challenge. He'd answer a challenge the same way he answered the original prompt: change the subject, say whatever.
However, if we're gonna have someone on a news program spreading FUD about specific topics, asking any kind of clarifying question is totally appropriate, but is for some reason increasingly rare.

If you still like Jon Stewart it's worth a watch. I got some laughs out of it.
I like how quick and away these things are. Didn’t have to learn what the brat thing was during those four days. This weird weird tactic. I don’t know. We’ll see if the next thing is any good by Thursday.

I don't remember that gaining any traction or getting under anyone's skin. Hit dogs are hollerin right now because they've built an entire media cocoon specifically to avoid/ignore mainstream judgement,. Lot of people turned into weird little freaks and are now mad the public is reacting to it. Normal people don't care who is advertising a beer, they aren't trying to log/document the periods of girls/women, they don't count all the non-white characters in a film/tv show, they don't support banning birth control, and they sure as hell don't go around denigrating people who don't have kids.
The conservative response is eventually gonna be to bring up trans/gender/etc but...the average American has never seen or met a trans person. They might as well be rare Pokemon. If they've met one, it was probably the Dominos cashier who got your pizza order correct. But everyone knows a woman, and most people have talked to one that has had trouble getting pregnant or had an abortion or faced weird treatment in public. So yea, this shit is clearly doing some damage and it will only get worse thanks to JD Vance.

Nothing is in the bag and nothing is a done deal, but the situation has shifted. Brat stuff, White dudes for Kamala. It sound stupid but it's working. The donations are going up, Trump and co have nothing to say about any of it and she's polling well.
I think it's also materially different from 2016 and Trump fans shouldn't take comfort from that. Harris is a very different candidate to Hilary Clinton and Joe Biden. Being real the republicans are now in trouble.

Well, PD has officially come out as a far-right chud.

Most of what you're saying is accurate, I just don't think it moves the needle.
I'd wager it loses as many people as it gains: it'd be like if they called Trump fat all the time...true? sure. But some people are gonna be like "hey, fuck you".
Personal attacks don't really do the job. I think stealing the spotlight and keeping it, and NOT giving oxygen to the opponent (even for sick burns) is gonna win the day.
Think about how Trump's assassination attempt got memoryholed immediately when everyone was dancin' in the street over Queen Kamala. That's the energy that will win IMO. "Look at us and the dynamic, confident, positive, thing we're doing." Don't point over at the other guy, even if it is to say he's a lamebrain fartface or whatever high school insult you desperately wanna lob. "You" here referring to the campaign apparatus.
I don't even think calling them weird is some major offense, I'm more skeptical of the "Weird is WORKING!" way of thinking. Even if it makes Ben Shapiro froth at the mouth, that's really not an important success indicator.
It all depends on how well Trump manages to stay on message as the Democrats blast the air waves.
Polls are still very favorable compared to 2016 and 2020.
And from the 2020 result we know he has voters that don't answer any poll but will show up to vote for Trump.
If he keeps his cool, the polls won't budge much.
I would say, just let Democrats blow their load in August and counterpunch in September at and after the debate.
Highlight that despite al their billions in ad spending, the situation outside the yas queen bubble hasn't changed with Biden in office.
Looking at current events in Venezuela, Ukraine and Lebanon it'll probably be an even bigger mess by then.

he had this election in the bag like weeks ago, now look at him
Quote:When asked about his position on granting police officers immunity following the death of Sonya Massey, a Black woman who was shot and killed by a sheriff's deputy in Illinois, Trump acknowledged that he didn't know much about the case - drawing some gasps from the crowd - but added that "it didn't look good to me."
How do people still not know how to ask trump questions?
