Had doubts as each song came out but this album ended up probably as good overall as the last. Probably not as good as Clancy, Metropolitan or AMERICAN MOTOR SPORTS to make top three this year so far.

Argentinian thrash! Nice.

I guessed Brazilian until I looked it up. Very Sepultura Schizophrenia.

You guys ever not listen to like a foundational artist or something in a genre and then do well later after you've heard so much they're kind of boring. I never listened to Far before, knew they were influential, but only just did this week and that's mostly the case but I can definitely hear all the stuff everybody's stolen since. lol

Anyway, obligatory:

Took me way too long to get into Iron Maiden because of this.

Melodic death metal is basically Maiden with more distortion and death vocals, but I was well into In Flames, Dark Tranquillity, At the Gates and others before Maiden really struck a chord with me. Now it's funny because MDM just bores me to tears and Maiden is my jam.

Been at a metal festival all day. I think I'm too old to do this shit for 12 hours. My back is fucked, my ankle is sore and my ears are hurting from the earplugs.

Pretty fun day though.

Had to cross reference the poster with the timetable on the site to figure out the band in the top left is a death metal band called Crypt.

SCIENCE!

Really cool story about Crypt.

They were one of the local bands in my youth and I peripherally knew them through another friend of mine. Normal degenerate death metal fans, loved zombies and metal. Anyway, they had some very minor success in the very fledgling Australian death metal scene, put out some demos and a couple albums and then promptly disappeared.

30 years later, this local festival pops up and the promoter managed to get three long-dead bands to reform for this festival, including Crypt.

Anyway, there I am 30 years later with two mates who I used to go to gigs with wondering out loud how the fuck we were standing there watching Crypt again after so long, and then they absolutely killed it. Was like stepping into a time machine except everyone was middle aged, fatter and balder.

Anyway, they also recorded a new song for the occasion and it kills:

Some other great bands on the bill worth checking out:

Anyway, I'm also going to see Iron Maiden next Tuesday. Absolutely pumped. Haven't seen them since 2008 when they were doing the Somewhere Back in Time tour.
