^ I guess that fits to this recent Neil Degrasse Tyson video

I find it interesting how the left has moved more and more into the direction that it's really just about how you feel any given day and that nothing beyond that matters, because at that point I think it inevitably asks the question what they think about Rachel Doazel now. if you can just "feel 80% woman and 20% man" then is that so different to Doazel claiming that she "feels black"? Clearly we don't need biology to back up identity anymore.

I assume NDT would say that Doazels claim is absurd but I guess that's how I feel about the claims in his video too.

apply it to any other topic

"today I feel like a one legged man so I'm going to hop all day and ask for others' assistance in getting around"

ok more power to you pursuing happiness that way but factually you still have 2 legs

why are you letting acknowledgement of that fact affect you so deeply

if you want the facts to be different, cut off 1 leg or sew another one on

No, that's completely different. Gender is made up and therefore malleable to each individual, while race is made up and therefore essential to who you are: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hypatia_transracialism_controversy

https://www.salon.com/2023/08/01/lizzo-sued-fat-shame/ wrote:That Lizzo lawsuit reminds us that even our progressive faves can be a disappointing letdown too

Lizzo is the self-described queen of body positivity and inclusion. The four-time Grammy winner's infectious pop anthems preach messages of self-love and acceptance. She has her own body-inclusive and gender-affirming shape-wear brand, Yitty, which intentionally includes transgender people. Her Amazon reality dance competition television show "Lizzo's Watch Out for the Big Grrrls" won an Emmy for showcasing the nuanced journey of fat Black female dancers and their extreme dedication to dance, self-love and ultimately success. After all of that empowerment, why are the same people she mentored in "Big Grrls," suing her?

The detailed lawsuit, obtained by NBC News Tuesday, claims Lizzo sexually harassed and created a hostile work environment for three of her former dancers. Some of the more serious allegations state that the singer pressured one of them to touch a naked performer at a club and eat erect bananas from the performers' vaginas, called a dancer out for gaining weight and later berated, then fired, that dancer after she recorded a meeting on her phone because of a health condition.

The suit also claims that Lizzo subjected her dancers to an "excruciating" audition after leveling false accusations that they were drinking on the job. Not only does the suit claim sexual harassment and a toxic working environment — it underlines alleged instances of religious and racial harassment. Lizzo's team did not respond to any requests for comment from NBC News.
Quote:Disturbing and shocking, right? When I read through the claims I immediately questioned how the allegations don't mesh with this impenetrable women's advocate and spokesperson for body inclusivity impression that the singer has constructed for herself in her last several years rising into a megastar.
Quote:This squeaky-clean progressive image that we so earnestly believe in is something the singer has also had a hand in curating. It's not uncommon for left-leaning celebrities to attach themselves to causes they believe in to sell a certain image or brand. Body positivity has worked for Lizzo because of her personal experiences as a fat Black woman in the entertainment industry. Her successful shapewear brand, Yitty, is literally marketed as "Shapewear for Every Body." And yet she is being accused of fat-shaming one of her plus-sized dancers who has worn and promoted Yitty.

At the end of the day, Lizzo exists in a multitude of different intersecting identities as a fat Black woman, and that still doesn't absolve her if the allegations are true. It does not exonerate her from being equally as culpable of fostering and reinforcing toxic and abusive working conditions and upholding power structures that perpetuate violent fatphobia, sexual misconduct and religious and racial prejudice. This level of injustice and cruelty can manifest itself in people who have suffered a great deal from its same destructiveness too. As imperfect people and in Lizzo's case, an imperfect celebrity, we can easily transform into a perpetrator as easily as we can be a victim.

Can… can we admit she’s fat now.

Even she was fat shaming her dancers! I don’t want the shaming part. Just need others to admit there are only four lights.

Quote:Since before she hit double digits, Alisa, 15, said she has felt a special connection with Japan. The high school student, who asked to be anonymous for fear of being doxxed online, was born in Ukraine and lives in Maryland, but she now goes by the Japanese name Miyuki and listens to “subliminals” that promise she will wake up and be Japanese. So far, she believes that by listening to YouTube videos with lo-fi music and photos of East Asian facial features while she sleeps, her vision has cleared, her eyelids have become smaller and her hair is just a bit darker.

Alisa began posting to her account, @rcta_ctdr4lifer, on TikTok in the beginning of June. While she has found a community of like-minded people, she has also encountered a slew of hate messages and even death threats. Her account, like those of many other RCTA TikTok creators, features walls of rambling text about her progress and goals and addresses the haters over videos of fashionable East Asian women dancing to Japanese and Korean music.

“Ever since I was about 9 years old, I’ve always loved Japanese culture, and I’ve always wanted to move there, even before I discovered RCTA,” Alisa said.

Maybe there should be age limits for social media.

I think the difference with doazel is that she tried to deny she was ever white.

By definition trans people acknowledge the physical change.

As a scientist, I'm surprised he thinks "If it makes them happy, why do you care?" is a particularly strong rebuttal, especially when highly publicised issues of legality, safeguarding, and consent have arisen.

I don't know too much about the current day situation in South Africa but it's pretty funny when this comes from the "words are violence" crowd

Well, it's true. Meaningless and tautological, if it's protected speech it's not a crime, but true. Three of the top replies are some variation on "freedom of speech doesn't mean freedom from consequences" when in fact this is what the First Amendment does mean regarding legal consequences. The one about the hitman is also wrong, it's hiring the hitman and him killing someone that's the crime, just talking to a hitman or hiring a hitman to listen to you complain is not a crime. Either the person and everyone who liked that think it's illegal to talk to criminals or they think hitman just blindly kill anyone you mention.

https://www.nbc4i.com/wp-content/uploads/sites/18/2023/07/Parents-Defending-Education-v.-Olentangy-Local-School-District.pdf wrote:The intentional misgendering of students constitutes “verbal bullying.” Of course, sincere questions about an individual’s preferred pronouns, civil discussions about transgender issues, and accidental misgendering are considered neither harassment nor derogatory. See Jessica A. Clarke, They, Them, and Theirs, 132 HARV. L. REV. 894, 958 (2019); see also Waldman, supra, at 497. But using pronouns contrary to an individual’s preferences intentionally (or repeatedly) poses a different issue. It evinces disrespect for the individual. It plays into stereotypes. It lacks basis in scientific reality. And it is deeply harmful, “inflict[ing] measurable psychological and physiological harms.” Chan Tov McNamarah, Misgendering as Misconduct, 68 UCLA L. REV. DISCOURSE 40, 43 (2020) (collecting literature on the harms caused by misgendering transgender individuals). Intentional misgendering has the effect of creating a hostile environment for transgender students on account of their gender identity and thereby causes a substantial disruption.
SCIENCE!
