I think it’s more this weird trans obsession with “my character has to match my gender identity!” that goes on that site. Plenty of girl gamers I know don’t care about the gender of the character, similarly I don’t think many guy gamers do either. Just these weirdos are obsessed with it and forcing their ideas into artwork that isn’t interested in it.

Who needs to be an effeminate elf boy to enjoy Zelda games? Lots of people enjoyed RDR2 and The Last of Us without being grumpy middle aged men. 

Resetera gets infinitely more enjoyable when you understand that almost every single one of them is actually mentally retarded.

it started when they were told it was what they needed, and it sounded good on paper, like another facet of whatever supremacy or bigotry that needed to be eliminated

"hey, black people who have been enjoying all manner of video games and other content for decades: when was the last time you played as a black man in a game?! you're not represented! you should be able to play as someone who looks like you!"

but no one stopped to think whether "playing as someone who looks like you" is really the point of gaming or something that should be desired, it was just done without thinking, and sure offering options where it makes sense is fine, but no end point or success state was ever established either

there is no "hooray we beat bigotry" moment

so if any individual game in this day and age says "are you a boy or a girl" and gives you an option of two white kids like old pokemon did, you have to prepare for rabid screeching, even though such a game is just one option amongst many
