speaking with the publication, he spoke about his struggles with drug addiction and why he thinks weed isn't as blasé as people treat it.

"I maintain that it's addictive. It leads to other drugs. And when you're stoned - and I've been stoned - you don't think normally," he said. "Legalizing marijuana in America and Canada is one of the greatest mistakes of all time."

 Elton, just because you can't handle your drugs doesn't mean we all can't.

I stopped drinking last year, I know it was the right decision for me. I don't think everyone needs to stop drinking. I've had THC and it's a mystery why it's still illegal while alcohol is a social norm: alcohol lowers inhibitions, increases emotional reactions, impairs judgement… Drunk people fight and become belligerent. Stoned people want to hug, and will raid your fridge. 

Addictive personalities will always find new things to which they will become addicted. Gambling, god, new substances, recovery from substances. And some people can just have a beer and call it a day.
