I actually get it

it can be difficult to show proof of income and credit and whatever you need to officially rent a place, but hotels are no questions asked, and it's easy to slip into a pattern of "oh god, I owe them so much already...but I have nowhere else to go, maybe just one more day..."

especially if you've never been homeless before and you're attached to the idea of needing a bed to sleep in, not being willing to sacrifice that just yet (and fucking things up even further just to maintain that)

It's pretty depressing. Downward spiral with everyone being able to see the bottom. Homelessness is something I don't really wish on anyone and I imagine most people who are homeless never thought they would be.

not to minimize the situation and the struggle but I have a hard time imagining living a life such that none of your friends and family would be willing to help you out

maybe I've just been really lucky to have the kind of friends I know would do what they can to give me some corner of a room while I find a job or whatever

or parents you're still on good terms with

or maybe these people do have support they could lean on but choose not to? "mom would be so nosy scrutinizing my every move and stop me from having friends over, no way will I move back in with her"

when the question came up here, I googled "hotel long term rates" just to see what came up

Quote:Why not find a room in an apartment with roommates?

Quote:My lifestyle isn't really roommate friendly. I have sleep issues and stay up at night and I also prefer to be by myself as I don't feel comfortable living with someone else

like holy fuck dude this is an emergency, do whatever you can! your comfort no longer matters!

same as melody shreds refusing to sell anything while begging for cash, "um actually poor people deserve an ounce of enjoyment in their lives too bigot, they shouldn't be forced to sell their only source of joy in life"
