Also - for the sake of transparency so you know my perspective, I am firmly in the court of "spend a few grand on your hobby is not categorized as 'wealth' or indicative of such." Plus, the financial situation of forum members is none of anyone else's business and should not be subject to commentary.
The financial situation of wealthy people is everyone's business, because it has an impact on the poor. Also the members were mentioning it themselves, just for the record.

As for your first sentence: I'm saying it's good to spend time thinking about the amount of money you spend on superficial stuff in the context of the people in this world. If this makes you feel attacked, then you probably already know that you're well-off and it makes you uncomfortable, because it feels better to be part of those fighting the wealthy, rather than being one of them. Fwiw, there are many degress of wealthy, so as mentioned before, I didn't call anyone here "ultra rich", not necessarily even "rich". But wealthy? Absolutely, if you can afford a 3000 dollars-gpu with little to no saving up.

I also disagree that "spending a few grand on your hobby" on a regular basis is normal. It's normal among certain circles of people, but absolutely not among most people. And it's not asked too much that you think about that. I often feel sick when I realize how good I have it when I eat some chicken nuggets that i have stored in the freezer. Just grabbing delicious food and enjoying it, that's also luxury most people don't have. And I don't get upset over that realization, but it makes me appreciate what I have more and makes me be vocal for the people who have it worse.
