What you guys are describing would be the single biggest undertaking we've ever done. It would constitute an insane amount of work.

I've asked to see if we can break future embeds while preserving older ones, pretty sure we can swing that.

Disabling new twitter embeds will be the greatest feat undertaken in the entire course of human history, apparently. Why is this cunt so dramatic?  

How hard is it to just flick the switch and turn off the option of Twitter URLs auto-embedding? Old embeds are still there, new posts from that point won't be able to embed tweets.
