It's like why was the narrower than expected rejection of Trump's failed leadership and buffoonery in 2020 interpreted as a mandate for progressive politics?
Why was the candidate that won the Democratic primary as an electable moderate turned into a sockpuppet for leftwing interest groups? (I think we have a general idea there)
