I am sort of curious what happened to this guy. He was a fairly major talking head for a long time, now he comes off like a catturd-tier twitter retard who is struggling with a crack addiction. 

Maybe he was always this way, but it's just such a bizarre career pivot.

Olbermann was always like this, there's tons of infamous stories about him from ESPN and MSNBC. There was a really popular one from back then that I don't recall the details of that involved him sitting in his bathtub refusing to come into work.

I think the whole schedule and having to be on TV and work with other people and stuff gave him a routine that he doesn't have now so he can just shit on Twitter all day going insane.

You can still sometimes see his old humor when he banters with conservative accounts instead of just being angry all the time and unlike most progressive accounts he tends to take jokes about himself pretty well. And he was aware enough to make a different account for just his dog posting since people kept complaining about his insane posts when they followed him for the dog stuff.
