Don't get me wrong, I am fairly certain I've been guilty of the above as well. But... why? Why does this happen? Psychologically. Rather be right than be quiet?
Can't help a potential good cause to just come in, shoot it down, and leave. Can certainly hurt if you contribute to presenting a less than united front, maybe dampen the mood of someone who was on the fence.
What's going on here? How do we stop it?
Notice how you could argue some of those examples are slacktivism, specially in the context of ERA.
