I have absolutely no idea where to get gear to push me into the ilvl requirements for any of the new content. It feels like I missed an entire chunk of story or something.

And no, I don't grind raids. I'm too old and bored to grind raids.

now the game wants me to go up another 10 ilvl to do the trial immediately after it. Even though none of the drops I got in the dungeon were for my class.

The item level system is such bullshit and needs to go the fuck away. I'm so tired of this crap.

I don't want to grind. I'm tired of grinding. Tomestones are shit. Alliance raids are over-long and boring. I never get dungeon drops for my class. It's just a miserable experience to get hit with a "lol grind for two weeks, idiot" wall every time you want to do content.

And the market board economy is so fucked that trying to get a relevant weapon is 1-2 million gil, in a game where getting gil is impossible unless you grind up a crafter/gatherer class, which I do not have the inventory space to do even if I had the free time to do so.

I've been slugging at this shit all day and I'm still nowhere close to being able to do any of the new content. I wasted a few hundred thousand gil on a weapon and it barely impacted my ilvl at all. Did two alliance raid runs while desperately trying not to fall asleep from boredom and was able to buy some gloves that...didn't help nearly enough. Trying to replace six or seven pieces of ilvl 700 gear just to do a single trial is an absurd lift.

And since I know people love to talk about the market board, the problem with buying crafted gear is, as I said, there is currently no route for players who can't engage with the crafting system to make gil. There are no meaningful sources of gil anymore. I have literally been hovering around 12,000,000 for three straight years (genuinely, not an exaggeration) because there is no accessible way for me to get more, short of paying Square Enix real money for two more retainers so I can have the inventory space to actually level a gatherer or crafter or both.

And since I refuse to spend any extra real-world money on my subscription than I already pay them right now, any gil I spend on the market board is gil I can never get back. Doing that three times a year would render me unable to buy anything, even teleports. It's just an unrecoverable death spiral.

It's week 1 of the new patch of course weapons will be 1-2 mill. Maybe make friends and offer them the items to make you a full set? You will be spending 2 mill for a full set instead of a weapon. There's a lot of ways to make gil even as a low level crafter because of housing items. Lil bro doesn't want to work.
