If you think over 1,000 other users on the site are the problem, I have bad news for you about what the problem actually is.

Don't let anyone shame you, friend. I don't know what other people's obsession with gatekeeping is; everyone should be able to engage with Era on their own terms, whether it's not having a firehose of Trump dooming shoved down their throats or not having to see bad posters/people with legitimately awful viewpoints/console warriors/brand stans with deranged takes etc. You ignoring is not affecting those people's experiences, so I don't know why they should be concerned with yours.

That said, while I only have ~200 on my list, I have a good friend who's been at the 1,000 cap for a long time, and there are a couple people also at it that post about it here in the feedback thread once in awhile. If I recall correctly, unfortunately, the ignore list cap is a technical limitation, there may be ways to ultimately work around it, but even if so it's a really low priority, so don't expect it to change. I know my friend manages his ignore list every so often and usually finds numerous users on it that have been perma-banned, allowing him to remove them and free up a few slots.

It is easy really, fuck you got mine people, bad faith arguments, pro AI people end up being jackasses enough outside of that stance it's usually a good indicator, purposeful non voters, people who try to use "lol" to try to "win" arguments since they dont actually have the ability to have discussions, some old blood people who've been around long enough that they get a free pass to be an asshole while dragging down conversations, humble brag white collar people casually mentioning they have 5 Oled tvs and the hyperbole they toss out that anything less makes their eyes bled, people who purposely weren't using political tags, and the self labeled experts that don't really know a thing outside being contrary and the general gamefaqs level posters in gaming side. The ignore list grew as this place got more and more negative which is a very common sentiment I see here often. List is fluid when you see somebody actually add something they get un-ignored. This thread has also shown that quite a few people are as authoritarian as some chuds trying to dictate how people should experience this forum and so would be so much worse if they had any real power over people. Still better than most places but let's not pretend ourselves by saying there's more wheat than chafe here as time passes. But I'm the problem...yeah.
