the majority of my fellow Americans are not smart enough to realize the damage he has done. They just say hold your stocks, buy the dip, and the market always recovers. It's insane to me. They act like the US stock msrket is a godly mandate that existed since the dawn of mankind . Empires Rise and they Fall. That's a proven fact. There is zero proof that in my eyes that the U.S. economy and market will always recover.

The problem is none of these people read anymore. They just listen to crypto or stock market podcast made by people that really don't know what they are talking about. Hey they have more money then me so guess they are super smart and who am I to disagree with these investors.

Every single republican in office during this moment is either driven by kompromat or direct threats to their safety.

It's so weird to be living in interesting times. The collapse of this country is happening in real time and it will be a chapter or two in the history books in the future.

  

The problem is he didn't run in tariffs, he ran on "tariffs". It's abundantly clear that he, his supporters, and to a huge chunk of moderates/independents don't actually know what tariffs are and took Trump's word on them effectively being taxes on trade with the US.

Democracy can only function if the general public is educated and understand what their representatives are doing. The GOP has spent over 40 years dismantling the education system and propping up their propaganda machines like Fox News.

People discuss how democracy is threatened in the US. In reality it's been dead for a very long time. We are just seeing the impact of disfunctional government right now.

More resources have been spent on the education system in the last 40 years than ever before. There's more alternative media than ever.

Oh yeah. He could have sex with all of their wives one after another in front of them on the Senate floor on live TV, then summarily execute each of their children one by one immediately after, and almost all of them would still clap and cheer and yell "that's my president, thank you sir." He's the face of the party for the remainder of his life and likely for a long time afterwards. He will have their full support for decades to come.

We are witnessing a really significant deviation from that loop right now however. Normally, Republicans in government are smart enough to hold off the crash until later in their first term (Bush Sr.) or their second term (Bush Jr.). Even the first Trump admin was like this.

This is a whole different beast. We're in a constant state of feeling like we could collapse as a country this year.

 

Even if this belief in Republican Gods were true, W. had a large recession at the start of his term when the dotcom bubble burst then continued with 9/11. Why did he deliberately do that (the recession, not 9/11) then?

You all speak of these fabled "midterms" as if the republicans are going to let you vote at all come 2026 and if they do, as if it's not going to be rigged and stolen by the most divorced man on earth claiming that according to his X vote counting system nobody voted Dem.
