In the comments you'll see a bunch of people saying it's all fine and fair because Zangief has thigh jiggle physics and some of the men have pec/arm physics. Which is exactly the same shit people on ERA are saying in response as to why the significantly more sexualized outfits and physics on female characters are okay, so they can happily cheer it on.

My fault for expecting better, the genre and community are inseparable from that boys club mentality.

And surely even in this thread you're going to get people defending and explaining why it's not that bad.

This always bums me out because like, I enjoy lewd stuff! Recently I've been assembling a model kit that is a silly somewhat lewd anime girl. There's nothing inherently wrong with liking lewd stuff, almost all humans do. I just want the sexiness to be equal opportunity (where are all the hot anime twinks?) and not promote unhealthy ideas of what women can or "should" be.

That's my big issue too. Feels like people are intentionally pretending the issue is with sexy stuff period because they don't want to acknowledge what people are really criticizing: how gross said fanservice can get or how rooted in sexism or misogyny some depictions are, even when it comes to characters that are supposed to be "assertive."

It doesn't stop being pandering if you can explain why a character is designed to act like your dutiful wife waiting for you forever or is completely and utterly fixated on you, she's still ascribing to sexist notions on how a woman should be.

 

What is the last game that did that that is not niche of a niche or a hentai game?
