Let's not mince words: "people" includes Maximilian, as prominently and loudly as anyone else.

This big principled position amounted to precisely jack shit--if you go and look at Maximilian's Youtube channel right now, you won't see any acknowledgement whatsoever of Maximilian's stated position, but you will see video after video soft-fellating the new game and Ganacci in particular, and if you watch them you're bound to catch a few smug passive-aggressive comments about how all the haters have come around on how cool he is. I don't think he's lying about canceling any official collaborations he might have had line up but if he's going to continue acting as a patsy and a marketing puppet (and justifying it with the supposed realities of being a fighting game content creator or community figurehead or whatever) then he might as well have said nothing and kept taking their money for all the difference it makes.

I'd ask "what's the point?" but the point is obvious: he saw the discussion in this thread and wanted to nip it in the bud before it got any bigger, and that bullshit worked because nobody's bothering to hold him accountable to any meaningful standard. He hasn't clipped or otherwise shared or restated his comments from that stream, and I would not be surprised if the majority of his regular watchers have no idea that he said anything at all, and that's by design--he doesn't want to take a stand, he doesn't want to bring awareness to something serious that he himself claims to have been unaware of until recently, he doesn't want to foster discussion about a serious issue or to bolster anyone else who might've been afraid to share their own discomfort, he just wanted to dead the conversation before it steamrolled into something he couldn't bury.

He's attacking Maximillan Dood, but the ban is pretty damn selective considering others have been doing the same shit, just slightly less blatant and less wordy. He simply virtue signaled a little too hard.
