Depends on the quality of the CRT and the method of input though. SCART RGB is always the best in PAL land.
With the right TV and cables
Too much hassle to hook up a CRT for me though. At some point I got a RGB SCART switch, modded RGB cables for the SNES/MegaDrive etc. and barely used any of it.
Sure Sonic 3 & Knuckles is cool but not cool enough to pull all that stuff from storage. I also fear that by now most cartridge batteries are dead so if I keep the SNES RPGs in storage I can pretend they are still working until they've all been remastered in some way.
My OLED luckily has a good scaler for everything that's not HD on Switch. Most folks have poorly calibrated their 4K TVs. They're always surprised that if I fiddle with the remote for 5 minutes I can improve how it looks by a lot.
