As long as they refuse to admit that hardcore Muslims/Muslim Americans/immigrants are willing to toss gays off of buildings, there will be no real discussion there. Even coming close to brushing that fact will get you banned for racism, so everyone knows not to touch it. So they just avoid that portion of the discussion which leads to this weird hodgepodge.
