Slightly related but today I was walking through the park and unlike what I usually do with my long hair actually I did braided it up and parted out in three different little tails. And was wearing my usual Mulan jacket but overall some glances you could assume a feminine look.

This little girl comes up to me while I'm walking in the park and tells me that "I'm a cute boy. But are you trying to look like a girl?" In which the father seemed a little embarrassed but I smiled and explained that "honestly I'm just me today but thank you very much for noticing!"

As someone that abandoned those forums ages ago, I'm honestly impressed that any people here have the will to sift through all the drivel those people post. The degradation of these popular forums over time has been sad to see, one could of course say this was the natural evolution of these places but I don't believe it. 

This was the result of years of moderators forgetting their duty to defend their most knowledgeable yet humble posters, and to do their best to apply rules equally whenever possible. Instead, they furiously defend and cover for some of the worst of humanity I've ever laid eyes on, and carve out constant exceptions with no benefit other than to assuage their own self-guilt because they may have made off-color jokes as teenagers.

In any reasonable forum or even IRC/Discord, someone like PlanetSmasher would have been wiped from existence within 24 hours for quite literally ruining every topic he enters with pointless, whiny rambling, just as one example...But the moderators have had their focus and duties so twisted and corrupted that they are incapable of even making such a simple judgment.

I've long thought that a surprising amount of the forum could be fixed if you banned like 10-20 constant troublemakers

I was in an enclosed place with 30 other guys and I remember during an HR meeting the person told us that a single person can alter the entire mood of the place.  Just drive everyone nuts.  And once that person leaves everyone relaxes, people aren't so aggressive, and people get along.  Normally you can just walk away and not engage but in a place like Era where mods and the mod-adjacent favorites run the place and are more like toxic, overbearing, managers, everyone has their butt-holes clenched 24/7.

That's a cool story and the kind of thing that I would like to post.  But you do that and you'll get nepenthe and co. saying how nobody cares about a Palestinian Bachelor. or you are trivializing the war, or Biden/Trump are to blame or whatever bullshit they can come up with.  I'd much rather post it on Reddit where I won't have to apologize at some point because I said the wrong thing.
