Can’t say I’m watching all this marvel junk. So this judgment is from the outside, largely uninformed on my part. Almost everything that’s well regarded served as epilogues of sorts. Like Spider-Man, Deadpool 3, and even the Scarlet Witch and Doctor Strange stuff. The larger issue seems to be nobody cares about the new characters? 

Was going to compare it to Saved by the Bell The New Class. But I had to fact check myself here. The New Class ran for seven seasons compared to the original’s four. When did that happen. Who kept watching it.

Iirc they brought back Screech to be assistant to Belding since they didnt like the new cast; dont know if that moved numbers but this was still early days before the fracture of internet tv so Saturday morning tv as a kid youre a captive to either cartoons or nbc's Saved by the bell/California Dreams double punch.

Have to say idiots like zeovgm make me happy that I stopped watching Marvel movies with the first Captain America (which was quite lame), only exception is when my nephew wanted to watch Thor 3 when we went to the cinema as a family.
I didn't even do it on purpose because I am some kind of movie snob. Just so much stuff came out shortly after each other and I felt like you needed to watch everything in order to get the whole experience, something I just didn't do.

On the flip side, I was too old when Harry Potter came out and only watched like half of the first movie as well. With the drama on resetera, there I do feel like I missed out a bit.

MCU really got going at a time when going to the movies on a weekend during the day was about as exciting as my life would allow (kids are a drag man). I also had other friends in the same boat so we went to see nearly all of them in the cinema up until Endgame. 

There's really been very little that was compelling since then and the COVID/Disney+/low quality output megacombo just made it easier to wait. 

I do see some in the cinema, but that's only the big tentpole releases because my daughter likes them. Haven't done that for ages and I think she's pretty much ok with waiting for D+ releases now.

At this point there is probably more bad than good MCU content.

Deadpool and Wolverine was good but mostly because it was a throwback to those old Singer X-Men movies. Which is cool for 1 film but doesn't have much of a future overall.
Bringing back RDJ is yet another 'dead end' in terms of continuity. Guardians 3 was the last Guardians movie with this crew, so that's the end of the road there too. 

I'm not sure what they can do to revive it, Harrison Ford? really? Why not bring John Travolta into the MCU if you're at it.   

With the MCU they had this rare opportunity to elevate somewhat known and popular actors to box office juggernauts for all the Avengers.

Sydney Sweeney might make a difference, she's rumored to join for Spider-Man. But Spider-Man is sort of its own thing within the MCU. But who else can they get? I don't see Rebecca Ferguson or Glen Powell jumping aboard. They're more likely to team up with Tom Cruise instead. Disney attracted the worst writers, actors and possibly the worst directors who are basically just phoning it in, and they nickle and dime on the CG too. And the last time they did bring in a great actor like Christian Bale, they completely fumbled it.

To be fair the MCU was always a potemkin village of sorts (Mickey Rourke? Really?) but it was always done in a way that the cash grab wasn't too obvious for the audience.

It is true that FF13 was the beginning of the end. Square Enix dropped exclusivity so that really angered some fans.
It took FOREVER to release and once it released they had all kinds of dumb excuses to explain why it had no towns and such.

FF14 is the cursed trans/gay/furry grooming app or something

FF15 was just weird, I played that game for a while and even though it was technically sound it was just kind of boring overall.

FF16 haven't played yet but binge watching Game of Thrones doesn't seem to have yielded the results that they wanted.

What was in between these releases? All sorts of weird remasters, spin-offs and remakes with the best ones obviously being Team Ninjas Final Fantasy Origins and the FF7 remakes but FF7 is kind of it's own thing within the FF franchise. I don't know what they can do, over the years not-Final Fantasy games like Lost Odyssey, Bravely Default and Octopath Traveler have done Final Fantasy better while they keep making these weird action RPGs.

16 is an excellent game, fwiw. fantastic combat, a decent story (esp compared to 13 and 15 and really most modern ff games), and the music is amazing. honestly a great return to the "feeling" of an ff epic that was hampered by being locked to ps5, which sounds like something square has learned from based on what the ff7r director is saying. its the first time an arpg ff has felt like ff to me and is one of my top games in the series now.

I mean, there's other stuff to consider when making a perm that I'm not really at liberty to talk about, but it's not like we fly by the seat of our pants on this stuff. I've been working on trying to update our internal documentation for most of the year and it's a pretty huge undertaking. It's like a freaking book and every time something changes I get set back. The last time someone did it, they had to take a month off and focus on just doing that.

Nepenthe and Hecht, TWO ADMINS, took on rewriting the PUBLIC "documentation" years ago and they couldn't even keep the updates only thread updated. Nepenthe "boasted" she couldn't even find all the rules the staff had enacted and not made public.

Love that they have a "book" of internal rules because of course they do. That's exactly what these kinds of fuckers always do. A massive manual of "process" to be leveraged against anyone and everyone to prevent actual discussion and resolution by yelling "the rules! My hands are tied!!!" (As B-Dubs is doing in this very post to claim he has no agency about anything that happens on the forum.) Yet another hell of their own making that they complain about to people who didn't put them in that position.

To make it ideological, this is what these "anti-capitalist" "progressive" types always do with everything. "We need to tear down society to establish an impenetrable bureaucracy!" Point of personal privilege! 

Before the three or more staff discuss and sign off on a ban they probably go around the meeting and say their pronouns. Because if they don't, that really needs to be in the rules, I don't feel safe.
