This smells like BS. It was probably Nintendo getting over panicked than any genuine backlash.

Not that either. The real story is that Punch Out didn't sell that well and it was kind of a one-off casual thing they made.
It kind of fit with Nintendo's strategy at the time to bring classic IPs back like Donkey Kong Country, Kid Icarus etc. to see if any would stick and only DKC did.
Out of that line-up Punch-Out was one of the more undercooked titles too.

A number of folks left the studio after that dogshit Metroid game they had to develop for 3DS that never started as a Metroid game.

Next Level is a pretty mid studio overall.

I wasn't saying that, I was saying that I don't find Kiwi Farms to be uniquely immoral or unethical versus most forums I would suspect people would name. ResetERA.com was but one example. Another would be The Bire, it would be hubris to assume we're so clearly and obviously superior as a group. ResetERA.com for one would disagree and consider us far worse. They haven't called the police on Kiwi Farms after all, instead the staff publicly mock them for being pathetic and harmless. I think the average Twitter user would not see much difference. Indeed, there are many members here who regularly express that they find our forum just as bad. It wasn't too long ago that a member publicly stormed off because of our constant bigotry and Trump loving. In any case I wouldn't want to hang my moral or ethical hat on the fact that we don't say unpopular slurs. If anything The Bire's only easy to consider so because the population is vastly smaller, if it grew we would add many more members willing to celebrate death and violence over the handful we have now.

I guess I somewhat see where you're coming from, but let me ask you this then: If this site got an influx of shitty, unfun, soyjak-esque autismo edgelords, you would at the very least, feel that it's a problem, right?
