It was to protest one killing. Black people get killed by the system all the time; we don't have perpetual protests.

Regardless, a large chunk of that was because covid put people out of work and we actually had time to. Also of historical note is that Black people have always been prone to reactionary protests and uprisings in America because of our conditions. Nothing really new.

Just as well, we must acknowledge that the protests didn't really accomplish anything beyond ensuring that Chauvin actually saw jail time because of fear of Black reprisal.

It was one of the biggest and most coordinated series of protests in the history of the country (largely thanks to Black activist organizations that have always been around, but were especially activated after Trayvon Martin)...


...and it took white people all of two years before they said "Ah! That's enough of that! Get rid of all that DEI and Woke shit! And let's cut affirmative action too while we're at it!"

Oh, so the BLM protests actually were about establishing racial privileges and apartheid, nothing to do with police brutality. And also just about protesting a single killing.
