Thanks for the response, I appreciate it, really.

Over the years I've seen situations, mostly on the off topic side but it does happen on gaming side too, where a user will just feel the need to spam a thread in a very confrontational manner, either picking fights, ban baiting or just posting borderline spam to the point the thread becomes hard to read for everyone. And once the thread is closed, either because people get too angry or it's become too derailed, nothing happens. The user then does the same thing on another thread and the cycle repeats. I had to block, for example, a specific user who I won't name after a thread in offtopic where they became the top poster, with twice as many post as the next two users combined, and it was mostly drive by shit, which just went unchecked forever. Trying to read through that thread was just impossible. I can't even remember what the thread was about at this point since it was so long ago. And this user has (or had) a pattern of doing this all the time. It's hard after some time not to start believing the leash isn't as tight when something like that happens and it's the same people every single time.

This guy is dead on, but this complaint has been made in detail already on the site and the mods don't care because they don't dare ban their power users which "coincidentally" coincide with their protected users.

Now according to B-Dubbington, it's social media algorithms that are harming the site! Ignorance or malevolence?

I honestly don't feel any different than I did before the election (beyond a mildly smug "I told you so" when people immediately began to shit on Latinos and Arabs for an outcome borne by white people.) Being disappointed would have meant having expectations of this country that I expected it to meet or exceed. But I don't have expectations for this shitty country, specifically not in conservatives to not, well, be reactionary, fascistic assholes, but also not in liberals to actually reckon with the contradictory shortcomings of their politics and the latent bigotries that lay underneath when push comes to shove. The American political landscape is not guided by meaningful principles, community, or a commitment to life. It's guided by reactionary team sport drama to see who will hold the keys to the capitalist kingdom for four years. It's a waste of time. Useless fucking noise.

Ultimately, I am not a fool. No one actually cares about Black people aside from Black people, so I cannot be surprised when the apathy and animosity is laid bare by non-Black people. So, the election result was shrugged off, and I've focused on what I've been focusing on the past few years or so- community outreach and self-betterment.

 Actually, you have an enormous amount of expectations that you benefit from and take for granted because you have no perspective on reality and just how good you have it in America.  Just having the ability to ignore elections, disengage, and be detached from the outcomes of political events insofar as you don't vote, and can commit to "self-betterment" is a privilege that inherently relies on societal stability and personal security that you were gifted here and never earned for yourself.  The funniest shit was when Nepenthe posted about how capitalism can't effectively appraise the value of labor - meanwhile the only valuable thing she owns is the house she'll inherit when her parents get too old to take care of her adult ass and they pass.  Nepenthe doesn't even know what skilled labor even looks like, but she just knows that the system is doing it wrong.  She's got the theory.

Though I suspect Biden was contending with larger geo-political forces. Given how intractable Netanyahu has been, I think there might've been concern in the Biden Admin that they would've risked a real rupture in relations with Israel and potentially open the door to Russia or China to ingratiate themselves with Israel.
