Was curious on how other people prepared and did cakes, like did they make cakes for themselves and made for others. Or did the one for them, one for other that I remember others doing growing up or doing a slice for everyone (which from this thread seems to be the most common) etc.

I don't know if I've ever participated in any kind of boycott like this, but I won't cross picket lines. Having been a member of a couple different unions, that's about the only "boycotting" I do. I even got into a fight with a girlfriend over it. Our favorite grocery store went on strike and I wouldn't cross the picket line. She thought I was stupid and I thought she was stupid. That was pretty much the argument.

Weird question, but March/Early April seasons is Birthday season in my family, a lot of family members were born around that time and, who loves to bake, bake three to four special cakes for certain family members... Including myself.

As such, because I'm currently writing down recipes and ingredients for this year's cakes, what are your rules when it comes to Birthday cakes? Specifically, do you allow other people to eat your cake?

Personally no. I do not. This is because, as I've mentioned before, I suffered from intense bullying and one of more things under physical and emotional assault, homophobia, ableism, immolation, forced gladiatorial combat etc was being bullied out of the Birthday cake my mother used to make for me (also seeing my mother also getting the same treatment from her "friends" on her birthday); so once I started my making on Birthday cake, I made it a very hard rule that NO ONE else gets to eat it but me. Same with the cakes I bake for others like my mother, she's the only one to get to eat that cake made specially for her.

On the other side, I also won't eat, even if offered a slice of anyone else's cake, it's there birthday, let them enjoy their own damn cake

While correct, I think getting people into the habit of just getting off their ass to participate in a real-world demonstration is also important. Organization is necessary, but you can't even get to that step if people feel like there's nothing they can do and express no willingness to be part of something tangible and bigger.

There is really no downside to doing this right now.

The downside would be thinking this will do anything or that anyone will even notice it happening.

I also make mice nests and logs piles for them and the local voles, which I've also noticed get used by frogs going to a through water supplies. I also have a Hedgehog house and always leave them cat food at night. Like I mentioned in my favourite animals thread, we used to get quite a few hedgehogs here and I loved watching them eat and they got use to my presence. Sadly the Hedgehogs here have been in serious decline and only saw one last, year but keeping the house up going leave food out just in case, if only for the stray cats (I also care for a stray cat, we actually caught her (just before she gave birth to kittens), but sadly she was deemed too feral for homing so was released by the SSPCA, though she comes every night to be fed by me, even if she won't let her near me).
