Then you get into the issue about how there's an obvious regression on how men value their SO's. Just wrapped this up. It was pretty solid, easily a far better adaptation than the original one from 2007. I really liked how many liberties they took from the source material to make this an allegory of the War on Terror and of 2000s US jingoism -- things very much happeneing at the same time when the first three games released. I really, really appreciate this show did more to humanize the demons than the games did.

I mean, not the biggest follower of the games, but… they never attempted this outside of a DmC secondary character? Sparda backstory is so vague to consider it. The games are about killing monsters stylishly.

I don’t think is wrong that the show takes itself seriously or the refugee/immigrant allegory… but is kind of silly if you think two seconds about (demons are just running from the evil demon king… the demon king that will crush the human world with a army of powerful demons with super powers if allowed to).

Is the allegorical mistake that X-Men often makes and devilman/shinmegamitensei bypass by having God as the bigger bad. Not mention that is kind of insulting in the sense of “Latinos and Arabs are like demons from the demon realm.”
