Clearly game studios don't give a shit either, and have continued to design women with *gasp of horror* realistic face wrinkles and jawlines! Nearly every game with a character targeted by the "ugly woman" criticism has ended up doing well sales wise. Actual gamers don't care about women having peach fuzz or "manly jaws" when it actually comes down to it.

Concord, Dustborn and Forspoken say hi. Concord is one impossible to ignore given how hard it failed. Again, people don’t care as long the game ends good, so dunno why you guys get mad that the internet is not in love with stuff like ND’s Intergalactic, is a talented studio and people ended buying Last of Us 2 (if begrudgingly). If the game is good, people will not give a fuck. But is also clear that the segment that is not exactly thrilled about this pedantic style of games is growing, so dunno if you can keep pushing this shit without breaking.

Last of Us 2 did well because it was a sequel to a very good game

that's partly responsible for the gradual enshittification of games, they try to do more of what was successful, but they only look at sales numbers and not actual opinions expressed online

good game -> bad/mediocre game with good sales because the last game was good -> another mediocre game with bad sales because people didn't like the previous one -> "how could this have happened?! we put ugly woman in it again, which everyone loved last time!"
