The preemptive strikes question was easily the best one from yesterdays presser. Trump going all: "What a terrible question. Why would you ask that." ![]() Not only does he deny it as if he got caught with his hand in the cookie jar, he suddenly floats the idea of pre-emptive striking "any other place in the world" ![]()

Tarrifs are already doing the trick. Remember when those would hurt American consumers the most?
The US economy is just too dominant. Europe used to be on par, now it's only like 50% of US output. Germany is economically dead. All the climate stuff and destroying energy supplies just made it easier for Trump. He basically declared the G2 (America + China) as being the only relevant parties right now and he isn't wrong. Also thanks to the war in Ukraine, we know that Russian air defense doesn't work. So it's not a matter of if there will be pre-emptive strikes on Iran, but when. Because why the hell would Trump wait around for his enemies to get their shit together and become a bigger risk? And no he won't start any wars because he knows none of those countries are capable of starting a war with the US. He'll just bomb some stuff that'll really hurt them and there is really nothing they can do about it If DOGE works and the US does quickly reduce the budget defiict than he can more easily 'buy' countries with high debt to GDP ratios.

DOGE is a fantasy.
Not touching popular entitlements, cutting taxes, and "rebuilding" the military is squaring a circle.

Good guy Trump, cheering for AOC.
(12-18-2024, 11:08 PM)Ribosome wrote: DOGE is a fantasy. Most government work is just forms, spreadsheets and databases. That's really it. A whole bunch of data that needs to be processed and stored. All that can be automated with AI. We created all these new service level positions over the years but we simply have no need for glorified typists anymore. If we don't need the typists, we don't need the interfaces they use either. A few years from now most administrative systems will look like command lines again and just 1 guy will oversee a 1000 AI agents or whatever and those AI agents will do the work of 100000 people 24/7 without sick leave or vacation days and with fewer errors and no personal bias. Just imagine renewing your drivers license. Your personal AI requests a new drivers license from the government AI because it knows your drivers license is about to expire. The government AI processes the request and issues a new drivers license to your personal AI. You get a notification that your drivers license is renewed. There is no building, no parking lot, no one filling out a form and handing you a physical drivers license. It's all digital and managed by AI. The actual cost of a drivers license will drop from say $50 to $0.1 . A brain surgeon told me, the result of my prompt is better than his own summary of a transcription. He also told me that the AI is already better at detecting contradictions and oddities in patients stories than he is, especially the most subtle ones. If brain surgeons are outclassed by AI, what chance does the average government clerk have to stay employed? 0 chance. Elon will do to the US government what he did to X. He's gonna cull 50% - 75% of the staff and that means empty buildings, so real estate to sell. You transform those office buildings into housing units and you solve the housing crisis too. Vivek proposed simply firing every government worker with an uneven social security number as a fair solution. And sure people will say there will be court cases and whatnot but like with X, it's going to be at a such a scale that the courts will simply be overwhelmed by it all. And it has already begun (12-18-2024, 10:29 PM)Nintex wrote: If DOGE works and the US does quickly reduce the budget defiict than he can more easily 'buy' countries with high debt to GDP ratios. U.S. debt to GDP is already over 100%. And who the fuck is going to live in former federal government buildings? This sounds like WeWork's scheme. ![]()

These fossils don't understand. It's not Elon Musk that doesn't like it but the AI and the AI explains in great detail why it dislikes the spending. No more hidden spending in bills no one reads because the AIs can identify all the waste.

Nintex, your AI driven utopia is no different to the communist utopia our leftist friends aspire to and will fail for the same reasons...you haven't factored in human behaviour.
People don't like communism because people like to strive for more and communism doesn't account for that. AI government would have a similar problem in that people want to be able to advocate to governments to take care of THEIR particular needs. Politicians get elected by choosing to favour certain interest groups over others. The minute a politician puts their job ahead of the AI-driven efficiency model, the whole thing falls over. The work of the public sector is not just shuffling paper. It's implementing the policy of the government to determine what groups should be favoured and how.

I may be stupid but I'm with Warren and Trump on this one. This lil yearly-ish song and dance is the dumbest pantomime ever. Pointless to continually revisit it.
