One of the best documentaries on Youtube: saving a legendary CRT TV

Video

in this video, a man tracks down a legendarily rare TV, possibly the largest CRT TV ever made, which few thought still existed anywhere

I made a thread just for this video because it deserves all the accolades, it is possibly one of my favorite videos on Youtube

history, drama, wild coincidences, shitposting, technology preservation, twists and turns

highly recommend it to anyone, not just people who like old technology

I saw some of this guy’s handheld mod videos before and he’s very autistic. So this should be an interesting watch.

edit: that was an interesting watch.

I’m sure there’s plenty of CRT fervor around, as evidence by the community he rallied around, but it feels like I saw people more into it before the modern era of monitors and TVs. Extreme hobbyists will do their thing. Even as somebody who plays older games, monitors and TVs with high resolutions, high refresh rates, etc. nearly get there for a whole lot less hassle.
