Look, I need to be real: what people want isn't actually an end to the Trump threads, they want more fun and interesting threads to post in. They don't want just horrifying threads that make them angry or sad. They just think that getting rid of the Trump threads will cause those fun and interesting threads to magically surface from beneath the waves.

There was a thread week or two back about people not meeting up in real life like they did pre-pandemic and I literally said "We had these sorts of threads all the time before the pandemic, just make them and people will show up for a drink or whatever. They want to hang, you just need to make the thread" and immediately one of the guys I was talking to put the impetus on me, and the rest of staff, to make a thread and organize such a thing. We can't force you all to have fun, we can't force people to make silly and fun threads, we can't force people to see each other as more than just soldiers in a discord server cold war. There's posters who have literally admitted, on this very forum, that this is why they are here. I mean, Slay makes fun comicbook threads all the damn time and one of the biggest requests in here is for giving people the ability to ignore him. Man tries to bring fun into people's lives and they want to make him disappear from the thread list for it.

Edmond Dantes, bless him, is single-handedly making a ton of interesting threads based on recent archeological discoveries and they're always super fascinating. Yet, we had to ban someone in one of those threads for directly attacking him over his formatting of the OPs of all things. I'm staring at this going, "What the fuck?" Dude is trying to expand people's horizons and talk about really interesting shit and we're going to crap on him? People literally complain when we send out alerts to try and get people to take part in GotY, which is supposed to be something fun!

Hell, when I have the opportunity I try and make fun threads too. My first thread this year was a silly one about how pooping increases your gains when working out. Then I organized a Pokemon TCG Pocket tournament, something, I want to note, that literally anyone can do. The tournament tool is right there, it's super easy to use, and I am more than happy to walk people through any issues they have. I did that with the Flowers for the writing contests and it's going really well and all he uses it for is sign-ups. Dude doesn't even use the brackets feature, just the sign-ups one. Shit, I have a whole calendar of fun ideas organized for this year. Who know what will work and what won't, but I want to at least try and bring people a little more joy. That said, I'm a drop in the bucket. Slay is a drop in the bucket. Edmond is a drop in the bucket. If people want more fun threads, if people don't want to see as many sad or depressing threads, then they need to make those threads.

People need to make the threads they want to see. Instead of bumping 6 month old threads on interesting topics and getting depressed when nobody notices, make a new thread so people will notice. Remember that there's social media accounts, maintained by a user here, that post links to any new threads that get made. Posting a new thread is a really easy way to get people to notice something going on. If something weird happened to you, make a thread about it! I'm going through the vault and there's tons of interesting and silly threads in there. Like the time a guy got a phishing link in an email and then posted the link in the OP of his thread about it or the guy who trained an AI to post like an Era user or the guy who had a giant cat invade his garage or the guy who found a video of an indie band in his walls. Remember Gaborn from the other place? Dude's politics weren't great, but he made a lot of really fun threads about absurd news stories that people could joke around in.

What I'm saying is if people want to see less Trump thread there's options for that. You can just turn off the political threads entirely by going into user settings and finding the bit that says "forum aggregation" and turning them off physically OR you could bury those depressing and infuriating threads by posting fun and silly threads and having fun and joking around. I get that the internet isn't really a place for fun anymore, as a result of social media algorithms focusing on making people angry and frustrated so they get into fights and stay on the platforms, but we don't have an algorithm here. We never will. If people want more fun threads, then they need to post more fun threads and stop trying to get us to shut said threads down.

You guys need to be the change, we can't do it for you. If people want to have fun, then you need to actually just do that. Stop hiding in your OTs and mega threads, stop sitting in your discords complaining about the users you hate, stop engaging in those negative spirals and actually try to have fun. Make threads about silly news stories, make threads about weird stuff that happens to you, make threads about your favorite shows/movies, make threads about shit you find interesting. I guarantee that people will show up for them. Maybe not all the time and maybe not at first, but people want to have fun.

Also amazing that he declares this this as exemplary behavior. All Dantes does is copy news articles (sometimes in their entirety) and adds absolutely nothing to it. I've read countless criminal cases and the family taking the side of the abuser is a not a rare occurrence at all, especially when the alleged victim is seen as the "problem child". And victims of sexual abused very often turn into "problem child" (depression, drugs, dropping out of school, psychological problems, etc.).

She may very well be nut, but the family taking his side doesn't say much. And that poster suggesting it does still shouldn't be banned even though it will probably happen.
