Not to dunk on your opinion of course, but I don't really see this. All I see in Emilia Pérez is a deeply cynical movie that was only made because it directly, but shallowly, touches on a couple of hot-button topics of the modern day and it's a musical, because I guess musicals are also kinda getting back in style in arthouse cinema since Annette and it gives them a funny little quirk to talk about besides the themes.

Like, there's no actual exploration of the topics that Emilia Pérez is about. It's about drug violence, but only in the way that a lot of non-Mexican films are 'about drugs violence' (portraying Mexico mostly as some kind of hell hole where you either live miserably, are part of a gang or die). It's about trans identity, but it's painfully clear the people who made this are not from that culture at all as it contains multiple instances of scenes that are completely uninformed or even border on being transphobic (Changing the voice when angry is... yikes. Having the kids say Emilia smells like their dad is wrong, literally one Google search will show you that people's body odour after transitioning changes).

It also uses that idiotic trope where the masculine form is considered aggressive, yet when she transitions into a woman she's completely absolved of all her past sins. Like, you can do a story about how a notorious drug dealer / mass murderer reforms after transitioning to a woman, but you need to explore this kind of change outside of just having her say "There's a lot I've done I regret". Yeah sure, but are we the audience just supposed to get along with the premise of "psychotic mass murderer is now a good person after becoming a woman"? How is Zoë Saldaña the lawyer just completely okay with this?

Then there's the case of how it portrays the culture and the language. I'm not a Spanish speaker, not am I from the area, but still... making a movie in Spanish that takes place in Mexico and then 1) not having a director or writer that knows Spanish, 2) not filming in Mexico and 3) not even having your lead actors (sans Emilia Pérez herself) be played by Spanish-speaking actors is... pretty sus. The songs are also just awful, you don't need to know Spanish to hear that lol.

It's not even like I dislike the director/writer, I really liked the other films I've seen by Jacques Audiard, but this is just such a massive misstep and it annoys me thoroughly that in a year that had two genuinely amazing trans films in the form of I Saw the TV Glow and The People's Joker, truly transcendent pieces of art made by trans artists that have meant a lot to the trans and queer people I personally know and follow and that have gotten a huge amount of praise basically everywhere, this tripe is what's sweeping all the awards.

The movies are good actually, better than any Sonic movie as the right to be.
Most of the games aren't awful either. The last truely bad Sonic game was probably that Sonic Boom shit on Wii U.
After that we've had some mid-tier Sonic games but nothing truely bad or unplayable. 

SEGA makes better games overall these days and that includes Sonic. I think Ubisoft has taken the absolute dogshit crown from them.

However that does not mean that a big chunk of the Sonic fandom aren't furry perverts that's something that a few mid videogames and decent movies can't fix.
