I so want to look up what countries have state budgets below $5 billion that also don't have less than five million people total but I am resisting doing this because this is why people think I'm weird.

This is a sentiment that is only going to grow. jettisoning good members of the community is just going to hurt the forums.
Fascism has arrived. The decorum goes out the window. Banning people like DigitalOp and Fat4all is just going to drive more and more members away.
This admin and those that are bowing to it are fine with many members of this forum ceasing to exist. Other social media has been overtaken by Nazis.
It’s 2025 and they’re still at “everyone I don’t like is a Nazi”. Amazing. Keep going, fellas.

Okay so I am going to start this off by saying I have this weird feeling. I cannot place it, it's not paranoia, it's not being scared. It's like some kinda detachment, it's so hard to put my finger on. I wanna rant for a second, it may not make total sense but I need to get it out.
So, like many of you I see the world as a terrifying place right now. I feel left out of a larger cultural zeitgeist that I was not aware of or have just not been part of. Maybe that's my own little bubble I have been in, but isn't everyone in their own bubbles these days?
I have this weird background feeling that I am being left behind in a lot of ways. One way are cultural norms, I feel like I am an outsider to what is a cultural norm nowadays (see modern media, movies, tv etc). I mostly consume my hobbies, lots of learning on YouTube. Lots of fact reading, stuff like that. I am not up to date on the latest fashions, cultural happenings and trends. I feel like I am an outsider for not frothing at the mouth over AI, what even is real at this point?
It feels like we are at some inflection point in society where "reality" feels more and more manufactured. I have a good foundation and ground for myself and a sturdy mental home, but I just feel like the world is "off" like I'm not in on some secret. Is anyone else feeling this?
I'm doing alright mentally, holding on. This last election kinda blindsided me. I feel like there are more out there that may empathize with this. Culture has blindsided me. I am okay not being trendy but I just feel like there is some background BS happening that just FEELS off.
I know that some of this has been self imposed by myself and my wife. We have created media boundaries, learned better habits with tech, we have a very very strong community around us and are friends with our neighbors etc. I'm not talking about that, I am talking more about SOMETHING that is happening socially and tech wise. It just feels like we are at a breaking point, something's gotta give.
Thanks for reading, like I said some things seem fucky to me and I can't quite put my finger on it. Sounds like the dude just turned 30.

One, it's a fucking joke.
Two, learn to read the fucking tea leaves.
The times we are living in are going to be viewed as a massive inflection point. We are all in for a tumultuous decade; whether it's class strife, technological disruption, global resource scarcity, climate issues, etc, all these things are coming home to roost all at once. But income inequality and "Luigi" vigilante attacks are probably the most direct example of this societal upheaval in action.
Era has made it nearly a decade so far, but if that gif was all it takes for a ban here, of one of the more active community members, there's no way this place is going to survive the next decade. Quote:Aaah the bans for us regular folk letting off steam against people destroying the world. 🕊️
Quote:Right? Why do we have to maintain decorums but it is okay for fascists to call for the destruction of our society? Absolutely nonsense. What, are we going to hurt the rich dicks feelings?
Quote:Exactly. Also, this just plays right into MAGA ideology to be afraid to voice our discontent, even when it is done in a humorous way.
Quote:Mod that issued this ban is wearing clown shoes.
Quote:Yeah these bans feel obtuse. It's obviously in jest. The rich bigots are saying "fuck you, die" to all of us, but heaven forbid we have some morbid humor hoping they croak first
Make sure to be polite during the class war. Make sure to tip your executioner.
Booshka wrote:The state has a monopoly on violence, so even though poverty kills we have to suffer in silence. Also don't help that when politicians try to be more aggressive, there's pearl clutching everytime.
Fuck that, be nice to those who are nice to you. Fuck those who wishes ill upon you. Niceness only goes to a civil adversary. That time has long past.
Quote:And yes, we shouldn't be banning people for obvious jokes. Especially a month.
Quote:Absolutely. Stop banning folks at the drop of a hat. Did DigitalOp's post receive a significant number of complaints?
Quote:The absolute fury I feel reading that, let alone reading it in a Twitter embed

Quote:Agreed. All this ban is doing is hurting the community and effectively encouraging bending to the powers that be to appeal to their... good nature? ??

It's like why was the narrower than expected rejection of Trump's failed leadership and buffoonery in 2020 interpreted as a mandate for progressive politics?
Why was the candidate that won the Democratic primary as an electable moderate turned into a sockpuppet for leftwing interest groups? (I think we have a general idea there)
Because is an old fart that doesn’t know anything? Just like Trump suddenly investing everything in Crypto.
The correct answer is because simpletons perceive everything as Good Guys (aka myself) versus Bad Guys. They identified Biden winning with themselves as the Avatar of Good triumphing over the Avatar of Evil.
You can see the inverse with their current belief that everyone is using Trump's victory to go "mask off" as chuds.
That doesn't contradict what I posted.

I love how that thread is full of pages about Jamie Dimon being a MAGA fascist when Dimon was one of Wall Street's biggest Obama guys.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jamie_Dimon#Political_activity wrote:From 1989 to 2009, Dimon donated primarily to the Democratic Party.[56] In May 2012, he described himself as "barely a Democrat."[57] After Barack Obama won the 2008 presidential election, there was speculation that Dimon would become Secretary of the Treasury. Obama eventually named Timothy Geithner to the position.[58] Following the acquisition of Washington Mutual by JPMorgan Chase, Obama commented on Dimon's handling of the real-estate crash, credit crisis and the banking collapse affecting corporations nationwide, including major financial institutions like Bank of America, Citibank and Wachovia, and said he did "a pretty good job managing an enormous portfolio."[59]
Dimon has had close ties to some people in the Obama White House, including former Chief of Staff Rahm Emanuel.[60] Dimon was one of three CEOs—along with Goldman Sachs Chairman Lloyd Blankfein and Citigroup CEO Vikram Pandit—said by the Associated Press to have had liberal access to former Treasury Secretary Timothy Geithner.[61][62]
...
During the 2016 United Kingdom European Union membership referendum, JP Morgan Chase, under Dimon's leadership donated large sums of money to the Remain campaign, and Dimon personally campaigned with Chancellor of the Exchequer George Osborne against Brexit.[64]
...
During the 2020 United States presidential election, Dimon wrote a memorandum calling for candidates to respect the democratic process and a peaceful transition of power, writing "While strong opinions and tremendous passion characterized this U.S. election, it is the responsibility of each of us to respect the democratic process, and ultimately, the outcome."[71] Dimon subsequently condemned the 2021 United States Capitol attack.[72] In 2021, Trump complained that Dimon was "not a patriot" because of his company's business in China.[73]
...
In November 2023, Dimon said he preferred Nikki Haley over Donald Trump as the Republican nominee in the 2024 U.S. presidential election

in October 2024, The New York Times reported that Dimon was privately supporting Harris' 2024 campaign.[81]
