Sure.

As you know, I've been quite anti-Democratic Party for some time. I've shat on them for literally years.

But I've also been on the fence about Trump. I was more of a supporter of Haley or DeSantis. I still suffered from TDS despite getting the Maga hat and going Republican and had problems with Trump's "tone" and believed the media about J6. After Covid and J6 I wasn't quite sure of Trump's ability to lead as well. Once DeSantis lost the Republican primary I kind of checked out of politics when I realized he nothing against Trump. I felt pressured, from the media to my social circle to turn from Trump. Plus in 2022 and much of 2023 Trump was talking about the election being stolen rather than the paltry leadership in DC. I wasn't quite convinced in his ability to lead. I think Kamala ran a pretty bad campaign but what sold me on Trump after years of not being entirely convinced was his leadership after winning the election. We had a sitting President and yet all the worlds leaders were wanting to commune with Trump and not him. The President Elect was shaking things and getting things done even when he wasn't sitting President yet. That's what finally convinced me and gave me confidence to fully support him. Trump was showing his vision for a better America after winning. I went through Trump's political archive starting from 2016 announcement and his earliest rallies and debates. I realized that behind the tough guy rhetoric was someone that actually cared. I also realized I fell for a lot of media stories about him.

In short, I wasn't quite convinced of Trump and he managed to prove me wrong but still voted overwhelmingly Republican. I voted for Abbot for governor in 2022 for example.

TDS is hell of a bitch and I can say proudly that I was wrong on Trump, but I wasn't wrong about the Do Nothing Democratic Party.

I have to say that I am a black Republican and there's actual social ramifications that come with that. For years I hid I voted GOP from friends and family. A big reason I went full GOP shill on The Bore is because it was literally my one outlet to fully express my political views without facing social repercussion besides maybe Reddit. If you share or like right wing articles in the black community you can lose contacts, support, and also money. I didn't have the fullest confidence in my support for Trump until after the election and my family had a political discussion and I said I supported Trump and my aunt defended me. I still have to hide who I truly am still so it doesn't fuck up my professional contacts but I really feel free to express outside of online forums now. Professional contacts still send me messages about Democratic doomerism after the election and I've had to play it cool and act like I agree with them but having support from family has been so beneficial. I can fully embrace the President knowing I'm not alone.

I don't know. I just feel more confident in my views now I guess. For some reason I have more conviction.

I think a lot of these executive orders/changes and outreach these past few days have been surprisingly good, I don't know about the long term but we'll see

I have family who are those panicky types just grunting out "eeeeevil, it's so eeeevil, I'm so scared for those poor trans folx" but we aren't the type to cancel each other or stop speaking, and we try to be well-reasoned and not be pure emotional reactionary

what you describe about how you have to act is terrible, the extent that people have to hide their true feelings on this stuff is extremely damaging, and it's also what's catching people by surprise when votes turn out the way they do

the basic trust that you can hold an opinion, one which doesn't imply any real world action on your part, and not suffer for that opinion, is just entirely gone

it's probably worse due to economics, where you really can't afford to get fired (he supports trump -> he supports his ideals -> he supports the trans genocide -> he will mistreat trans customers -> he must be fired)

At first after the election I finally felt confident enough to express my true views on platforms like Facebook. I was considering to still do that and not  be afraid because it felt as if we were finally in a cultural shift. After the election though that seems to have dissipated and the Fascist Far Left are still in tatters and ruining relationships and cancelling people for supporting the President our own country so I decided to keep it to myself again. Doesn't help that Zuck changed something on Instagram to where it shows which reels your friends are liking. So now I don't even like pro-conservative or pro-Trump reels on Instagram anymore because it will show my followers and put me in a bad spot, especially as I have some certain career goals.

Remember Patrick Mahomes' wife liked a pro-Trump IG post and then the Leftists lost their lunch and tried to put pressure on her for having her own political views.

The left has just made society overall worse.
