What a tragedy that should have assuredly been prevented. Rest in peace to all the people who lost their lives in this tragic accident damn, and thoughts go to all the people who are directly impacted too.

Have to think the societal decay is only getting started sadly and it's hard not to view this in light of the heavy handed governmental interference/destruction that's going on.

I can't help but keep thinking about Breaking Bad. As it aired, I thought both the airplane collision and the turn to the Neo Nazis at the end of the show's run were the two "weak" things that kind of went beyond my suspension of disbelief. That they were too "cartoonish" and "over the top" as to be a bit too unbelievable for the show's context.

But no, not really. In hindsight, those things that happen in the show make total, perfect sense. Especially when you view Breaking Bad through the lens of it being a larger parable about the collapse of the United States. Not just Walter White is Breaking Bad, everything surrounding us is.

This is the truth. Those metacritic lists are filled with hundreds of sites i've never heard of before, and probably half of them are questionable fanboy slop to try to rig those all important metacritic scores.. I legitimately cannot remember the last time i read a websites review of a game.

Why are some eggs white and some brown?
The reason for different egg colors is actually quite simple - it all comes down to genetics! Different breeds of chickens have different genes that determine their feather color, size, and, yes, even the color of their eggs. It's similar to how humans inherit certain traits from their parents. Different breeds of chickens lay different colored eggs, and it's all perfectly natural.

Um, no?  There is no such thing as breeds.  There are various factors at play from history including social factors, and indeed heritability doesn't actually remark on the source for why a trait is the way it is. All it says is "this is a pattern in this population."  For example, if you have five of the same chicken, and give all of them equal access to what they need to grow large feathers (food, water, access to art, creativity, music, etc.) and you see an equal distribution of this trait, feathers growing large, it's 100% heritability. If you were to have taken one of the chickens and given it shitty conditions, and it only grows small feathers heritability drops, not because of the biological potential of that chicken to grow, but because of its worse environment.  That is, if you're not a science denier and understand that heritability is a just a thing.

Yeah. I don't tend to read Sanderson's stuff (I am on a fantasy moratorium until I make enough progress on my book to not inadvertently rip off anybody else I'm reading) but I've heard his worldbuilding depth goes so deep it actually turns some folks off, whereas other folks find it the main reason to read his stuff in the first place.

It's something I grapple with a lot in my own writing. I LIKE to know every stupid detail about my pantheon, the history of my planet and all of the various cultures and factions that live on it, but...if I spend all my time writing about that I'm just gonna bore people. I have like 12 gods that literally don't appear in the story in any reasonable capacity but my brain is COMPELLED to learn exactly who they are and what they're like, lol.

Yeah. I have TRIED to make my magic system as easy to understand as possible from the get-go. It has pretty clear rules (and frankly is more or less a giant extended metaphor for income inequality disguised as a magic system) but it's also something that if someone WANTS to really dig into and go crazy with they probably could.

It was funny - when I originally was working on the setting by using my D&D campaign to flesh out worldbuilding details, I literally ordered my players to not ask questions about the eastern continent so I wouldn't have to write anything about it.

And then we spent an entire year on a seafaring adventure between the two continents and my brain was like "TIME TO FIGURE OUT THE EASTERN CONTINENT, IDIOT!!!!!!!" so I hoodwinked myself into worldbuilding a continent I literally disallowed my players from going to, lol. And now one of my favorite characters I've ever written is technically from there, even though he's only ever made appearances on the western continent, the southern continent and floating pirate metropolis.
