this is a surprisingly good speech

it's very america-centric (rah rah we're so great) at a global conference, but I don't know whether that's standard and every country does that

and it seems to have worked

I mentioned it back when Vance shit on Walz in the VP debate, but this dude is a total operator. He's as canny at politics as Trump isn't

I wouldn't vote him for president (unless... 👀) but I'd definitely feel more at ease if JD was president now instead of Trump.

What about when the Democrats put up their Harris/Clinton ticket for 2028?

You aren't going to trick me into watching that shit. No sir.

Quote:rah rah we're so great

This is usually the point at which most people roll their eyes whenever an American speaks.

Nobody is opposed to a speaker discussing the good things their country has done, but I think it would be hard for anyone else to be as "rah rah we're so great" as an American. Humility (and sometimes dignity) is a foreign concept in the US.

genuinely I don't know what the conference was all about, for the same reason as you

maybe everyone was supposed to get up and say "yes here in france we are very proud of our mistral language model, showing quite capable performance stacking up against chatgpt's efforts, and we are leading the way in europe"

that's why I asked

I don't think anyone knows what the conference was about tbh  lol

The EU tried to convince investors to invest in AI in the EU instead of the US because it is more 'open' when really it isn't and to top it off they invited JD Vance.

I don't

French innovation? Mon dieu!  Jeanluc

"Kindly inform Major Heyward that he has little to fear from this General Marquis de Montcalm in the first place; and scant need of a colonial militia in the second because the French haven't the nature for war. Their Gallic laziness combines with their Latinate voluptuousness with the result that they would rather eat and make love with their faces than fight."

Think he’s sharp for a younger politician and I’m kind of jealous because the younger democrats are so not. Like, the interviews where he’s asked about some dumb bullshit Trump said, and his ability to reword it into something legible, is impressive.

I’ll never forgive him for besmirching Pokémon. He’s barely 40 yet uses big buck hunter as his olive branch to gamers. Come on. You’re telling me at his age, with his background, he never played Halo? That’s weird. Democrats needs to pounce on that.

Quote:We have begun working with President Trump’s team and can already see that success is attainable. Right now, the world is looking up to America as the power that has the ability to not only stop the war but also help ensure the reliability of peace afterward.

Ahead of the Munich Security Conference, I had a good call with
@POTUS
, as well as a substantive meeting with Vice President Vance and Secretary of State Rubio. We are also expecting General Kellogg to visit Ukraine soon to further assess the situation and explore pathways to President Trump’s strong solutions, which can be truly peacemaking.

Our teams are working throughly and in detail on a special agreement between our countries—one that will certainly strengthen both America and Ukraine. We are committed to making it a real success, exactly as we agreed.

We also had productive meetings with U.S. senators and members of the House of Representatives.

Of course, we will see more of Putin’s attempts to deceive the world and prolong the war. But real peace is possible—and we must achieve it together: Ukraine, the United States, and Europe. This is about our shared security.

Thank you, America!

Trumps

I get the feeling that Trump is cooking up another insane scheme like taking over Gaza. Maybe selling nuclear weapons to Ukraine?
Strangely enough, not a peep from China as of late either. 2 front war against Russia?

Macron has called an emergency session for all EU leaders in Paris tommorow.

Maybe Trump can buy Crimea like he did with Gaza. Make that a resort too. America should buy all the disputed territories around the world and turn them into U.S. resorts. Got to be better than whatever is going on in those places right now.

Look don't cry vladdy, Crimea never treated you well and Donbass didn't like the abuse so you'll have to make it up to her. Also Kursk is missing her daddy right now don't you want her back after what Zelensky did to her. She looks rough even I can't fix that.

...

Yes well your relationship with Kyiv is about as good as mine with Beyonce... it is what it is... but I have something better

...

How about an actual 10. Gaza is a real beauty. She's the Riviera of the Middle East and surprisingly not as run through as Donbass but Belarus is the cheapest right

‘They were afraid to confront you’: IDF chief tells troops not to be bothered by Hamas members’ show of force at hostage handovers
https://www.timesofisrael.com/liveblog_entry/idf-chief-hamas-members-now-puffing-their-chests-after-posing-as-civilians-until-truce/

Quote:Speaking to members of the Israeli Navy’s Shayetet 13 commando unit, IDF Chief of Staff Lt. Gen. Herzi Halevi says Hamas operatives seen at the terror group’s hostage release ceremonies were afraid to confront troops before the ceasefire.

“Don’t be bothered by footage of Hamas operatives standing in ironed uniforms at the hostage release ceremonies in Gaza, these are operatives who, until the ceasefire, were afraid to confront you,” he says to the commandos during a visit to the Navy this week.

Halevi says the Hamas operatives “hid their uniform and sat in some tent in the Mawasi [southern Gaza humanitarian zone] in civilian clothes.”

After the ceasefire started, they ironed the uniform and stood with their chest out on stage. When we go back [to fighting] they will realize who we are and who they are, and this is the way you have to look at it,” he says.

At this point, we know the Russians had some sort of plan to disrupt flights with potential terrorist actions. Is it just coincidence that there's been so much trouble with air safety in North America or is this related?
