I mean, he could always announce the rule change in the site rules thread, which is always kept up to date and never allowed to lapse, and then make the technical change later.

It's like you guys don't even remember all those times B-Dubs talked about all the backend updates that were taking months to complete. Those incredibly specific things that nobody on the team can do but are all crunching to accomplish for months on end. Like the multi-year project of Nepenthe and Hecht tracking down all the rules. Or B-Dubs rewriting the giant book of non-public guidelines. It should have just been obvious that the understaffed staff didn't have time for this incredibly technical change of turning off embeds because of all those other priorities that B-Dubs never ever mentioned as he spent months saying the minor change was impossible to even do.

It sucks to be reminded that the anime and Vtuber communities have become an online refuge for neo-nazis and white nationalists.

But in this particular instance it just to infighting among themselves, so that was nice at least.

What's the context?

The start of it was one of the right wing anime pfp accounts compared Gura to Pokimane with a "woke vs non-woke" type of thing.
Another account qrt'd with a supposed picture of Gura's irl face and called her an "ugly witch". Said account also happened to be a right wing/nazi.

That account would then get hundreds of qrts bashing him for calling Gura ugly, and many of them were also neo nazi accounts with anime girl pfps. Essentially, it caused some infighting between them because one of their number just happened to dislike Gura. The first people who noticed this decided to sit back and watch those losers call each other racial slurs, despite them being on "the same side".
