Given the state of American society, they are largely correct. The best time to have lived in this country economically (as a straight white male) was the aftermath of WWII, and it's honestly been downhill ever since.

This is true only if all you care about is your group status relative to others and absolutely nothing else. Straight white males today are wealthier, live longer, work less, are better educated, less likely to die from an endless number of things, less likely to be drafted, can watch more Disney media than ever, can watch more multi-hour YouTubes at work, can attend comedy school, and can even be lesbians.

In fact we both got incredibly drunk last night and instead of doing anything naughty, we deep cleaned the kitchen together. She did ask about where I was in terms of partners though and told her, but also said "I just really want someone who's local, someone who wants me, likes me for me and even if it's just casual or FWB, It just hasn't happened yet! 😥" And I've also said "I don't get hints or anything like that I need someone to just tell me directly if they want me and ask me out"


Again, nothing. And I know it takes two to tango, but I'm not going to waste my energy if she's not going to actually slap me and tell me directly. I'm not going to bother, all my partners currently, even my ex has been incredibly forward and that's how I want and need it. My partners and I do have a laugh over that situation. Just decided it's not worth pursuing unless she's willing to take my words seriously.🤨

So we'll be flirty friends and that's that I guess 🤷‍♀️ Flirty friends is quite nice, because it's like a cappuccino with chocolate sprinkles. We're really well bonded, but occasionally kiss and cuddle in her bed and touch one another's boobs and compare nipples and say we love one another....😒 Like maybe it'll change when the dynamic changes and I'm not paying her rent and she feels it's morally ok to move things into sex. Personally, this sounds like a one-sided "friends with benefits" situation where the other person just doesn't want to make the full commitment, but the other side does at one point and I would have never entertained the idea of it at all from the get-go. Boundaries are boundaries, and unless the person is serious, they don't get anything out of it. This could blow up in either direction and potentially not well.

Honestly sounds like the person is using you for their emotional crutch and fantasies and that's not really a healthy or normal relationship in the first place. 🤷‍♀️

I think it'll be much easier for me to set boundaries when I finally move out 😀
