As a guy who works in the field of electronics, I can confess that electronics are NOT cheap anymore. (I keep repeating myself in Era)
I mean after COVID many players in this field stopped making things in bulk.. or in the other words, companies were more lax about overstocking and such because economy is somewhat predictable before COVID and they're sure the stock can be sold sooner or later.
After the COVID they went full conservative and risk-averse so they'd rather produce less and secure profit margin for every single product.

I probably have some of the details incorrect, but I can inquire with my girlfriend if further detail is needed…

So my girlfriend bought this house in Metro Detroit (MI) a little more than three years ago. Despite my best efforts in trying to aid her in her search, my dad and his cancer was all that was on my mind for a good six months. In the end, it unfortunately took his life and after a couple months of living with my mother, my girlfriend suggested I move into her newly-purchased home.

I want to say that the house was a stinker - neglected terribly by two elderly people, both of whom ended up passing. The house was then either "updated" drastically, and then flipped to my girlfriend, a first-time home buyer, desperate at all costs to get out of her mother's home.

So despite the house being updated and flipped to my girlfriend, SO much has been going wrong with it the past couple of years.


-Front porch is pulling away from the house… There is now a gap between house and porch where leaves and small animals can no doubt get in.

-Bathroom floor grout has all come up, leading to a couple of large floor tiles now being broken… A local handyman company stated that this was because they put the tile flooring on the wrong base or something?

-Leaking windows/walls. It's raining today here now in Metro Detroit, and water is now dripping down from the ceiling above, down the basement wall. There is a window upstairs above it. A couple of months ago, we noticed water coming down the bottom of a window and soaking the floor below, likely due to the extreme cold and subsequent warming up once melted.


There is so much more "wrong" with this house that I don't even care at this point (flickering lights, uneven flooring, etc). It all just seems so cheaply done.

I guess what I'm doing is asking for help or suggestions/guidance. My girlfriend is the absolute nicest person, I just really hate seeing her getting dog-walked/bamboozled/conned. At least that's what it seems like here.

Do I contact a home inspection company? Do we contact the mortgage company and ask them to get involved? Do we pull out a loan and fix everything and flip it ourselves? Are there warranties or guarantees that we should look into? Any specific person we could contact? Or are we just fucked because we were both vulnerable and jumped into a situation like this when we shouldn't have?

That sounds like a house flipper. They come in, make the house look nice, but everything is done as cheap as possible. Was a home inspection done as part of the purchase process? That probably would have caught a lot of things.

It was done. But all of these things have happened after-the-fact, yet still in the first couple years of ownership. I know everything was done cheaply, but are there warranties or contacts I should look at? Like, is the company or inspector a crook that I need to contact? Or are we SOL?

My question, and maybe somebody can answer this for me, is … doesn't that only make sense as a strategy when there is an imminent return to prosperity to follow? If the Trump admin burns so many bridges and digs so many holes won't it potentially take forever to dig out? Will the billionaires be okay with that ROI if it takes years and years and years?

The only thing I can think of is the plan is this to cause mass chaos for a short term, billionaires swoop in, things are returned to relative normal and everyone is so grateful they don't notice the rug has been pulled out from under them.
