I'm piggybacking on the American small business people that have spoken about how they have tried sourcing from American companies and it's been very difficult. The quality is poor compared to China and they are totally inflexible and argumentative about what can be done. There was certainly a time when some of these Chinese product/worker stereotypes had validity but I think they have advanced at such a pace that the west is probably uncomfortable acknowledging it.

I don’t mean like, I want to watch the cutscenes only, because a lot of important world building and moments happen in conversations and dialogue while you walk through the game.

Wish there was a mode where you play the game without any actual gameplay or enemies, all QTE and let me digest The Last of Us Part II as a 5 hour interactive experience where I just walk and listen to pretty music and relax instead of having to spend 25 hours repeating the same actions and fighting the same enemies for 80% of the experience.

I joined the conversation and said that I was looking forward to seeing it. I tried to get him to talk about it more but he wasn't very receptive so whatever.

So over the weekend I believe, I saw the movie. At work I told him I saw the movie and loved it, but I told him I thought the end was weird. And he was like, "That's because you're a man!"

Dafuq. Last time I checked, he was a man as well.

Then today, I made my lunch….the SAME lunch I've been making since I started working here in January. I just warmed it up in the microwave.

He came up to my door and said, "Your food smells like trash. Can I close your door?"

He always asks everyone else what their weekend plans are, or what they're doing later in the evening, but never me.

Two points: 

1. The bolded is probably true, but US and other western companies are disadvantaged by the fact that Chinese companies can exploit their workers in a way that western companies can only dream of. Shit, western companies copped more grief for Foxconn suicide nets than Foxconn did.
   
2. The Chinese are very good at copying stuff. Their counterfeit economy is proof of that. The problem for the Chinese is that they have provided absolutely zero innovation in the entire time they've been developing. They have a massive brain drain problem. The United States is still the home of innovation in the entire world. Trump is currently trying to fuck that up, but it will be true for at least the next few decades.
