But he also died in abject poverty and his work is in the public domain. To the extent the Lovecraft fandom leans any way, I'd say most of them (that I am aware of) lean left. I went to a very diverse school system growing up, so my natural way of speaking has inherited a lot from other cultures (which I'm extremely thankful for).

My wife and I currently rent a small 3 bedroom house for $600 a month. Today my wife told me that her stepdad has offered to make us an addition in their property (it would basically be a 2 bedroom apartment). It does sound like a tempting offer but hey are some positives and negatives:

Positives:

- We wouldn't have to pay rent.
- We would get AC.
- From what I have been explained , it would be a little bigger than our current place.
- For my wife at least, it would be near family.
- A change of environment would be nice since I don't really enjoy where we currently live at the moment.


Negatives:

- We would have to give her stepdad $500 dollars a month for the 1-2 years for him to buy building supplies (this is my biggest issue , I don't mind giving some money for the supplies , but we pay a lot of stuff every month currently and most of them very important things. Giving an extra $500 a month would pretty much leave with no money to buy anything except this and the important stuff , so no hobby spending).

- Her mother is cool , but her stepfather can be a handful , he is the annoying type of boomer...the type that doesn't like seeing people sitting down, taking breaks, he gets mad if you are not keeping yourself physically active most of the time, he will call you lazy and do the whole "you are still young so you don't have a good excuse to be on your ass alot" (this may sound selfish, but I am retired and the most physical activity I do now is exercise since my legs are pretty screwed up from my time in the military).

- To me , living next to family sounds like a pain , they are going to want to hang out/visit constantly since they are a close knit family.


What would you peeps do if you were in a similar situation?

Maybe don't worry about the video games for 2 years? Not having to pay rent would be a good deal and your wife can be near her family.

I've said this before but the 'biological sex' nonsense hurts me as a trans person *and* as someone with a science degree. Any scientist reading that nonsense should see that this definition hasn't come from science, and is inherently unscientific. I'm fairly confident that biologists were as absent in these hearings as trans people were.

The judges and their ilk claim it's a biological reality when in fact it's a single doctor's best guess given that they're only given two options in the first place. The line doesn't stop being arbitrary simple because the large majority fall clearly on one side or the other of it. That isn't biology. That isn't scientific fact. Science has made some attempts to explore trans identities to better understand them, because like all things science delves into, trans identities are an observed reality. Beyond that, intersex people are indisputably real, and while you can indeed write a binary definition of gender, it serves no useful function other than to push transphobia.

And even then it is legally lacking, because it gets you to things like trans men being told to use women's restrooms and the transphobes obviously don't want that. The reality of the methodology they use to determine gender is 'we should get to tell other people what their gender is, they shouldn't get to determine it for themselves'.

I'd revoke your "science" degree except you already aren't using it working IT for the local sheriff. Twenty years of "experience" that will definitely translate to whatever country you're fleeing to without your wife that will uphold the "science" of humans having an indefinite number of compatible sexes. Maybe let you keep it if you can pass a philosophy of science course.

"Intersex" (DSD) people are either male or female and are not trans so they have no relevance to the cause.

It's entirely rhetorical because these are ignorant people who cannot process nuance. They think if they can raise any exception they can think of that it disproves the categorization of biological science completely. It's how they got themselves into this mess in the first place.

They think men are only one way, and they're not that way, so they must be women. And also that those terms must be entirely meaningless, even though this invalidates their notion of transitioning. What they believe is true about DSD validates them however because it tells them the idea of two sexes must be wrong for the same reason they think infertile people and people of color disprove sex. They think sex does not contain nuances or disorders or differences but instead is this rigid thing forced on everyone by an oppressive power structure.

You can see it in a lot of their reasoning, especially on Era. 99.8% of people are fine with Cyberpunk or whatever, but 0.2% are an exception and demand everyone else conform to their wishes. Everybody has to be accommodated in every way they wish or else the thing isn't allowed. Biology and cultural concepts of gender don't include me in the way I want so nobody should be allowed to use either.

I feel grateful for everything my parents did for and gave me while also understanding throughout life that they also did some fucked up things or lacked the knowledge I needed in the moment to make sure I wasn't playing catch up later on.

With the recent supreme court judgement in the UK (heavily pushed and funded for by sales and royalties of Harry Potter Projects) is there anything we can do as a site/community to put an alert out to Sony who are constantly pushing and interacting with the IP? Legacy was recently added to PS+ alongside giving out two previous games in the franchise, alongside Sony giving Legacy its own State of Play, promotion in the PS5 Pro announcement and countless emails. I know we're small compared to the overall PS user base, but I hate that this seems to consistently overlooked, especially as our subscriptions are being used to fund it.

I want to agree in principle, but you can play six degrees of separation to heinous shit with literally anything related to gaming or media/entertainment nowadays.

A line needs to be drawn somewhere. This is still a gaming forum after all.

Being critical of what you consume and asking those companies and creators to do better is a good thing. Then you stop giving them money when they show you that they have no interest tin listening.

Jasmine Crockett is one of the most important faces of the Democratic Party for me. She speaks truth to power constantly and actually cuts through the bullshit unlike most politicians.

Of course the double standard levied against her for being both Black and a woman already has seen tons of thinly veiled racism lobbed at her from supposed liberals and progressives who don't like how she comes across which is hardly unsurprising.

And she's actually trying to accomplish something unlike the bloviating of other certain elected officials who abandoned their Black constituents/lawmakers when they asked for help, has passed no legislation and only seems interested in doing rallies.

Over two years in Congress, Crockett has not had a single bill moved into committee let alone passed.

Her district is 75+% Democrat, she gets constant media exposure for just saying things. This clip is her on one of the nation's most popular talk shows because she's popular with the media on social media.

I smiled all the way through that, which I never thought would happen with a 10 minute Jimmy Kimmel clip. A small sliver of hope for the future.
