JP is not “very clearly” brown. He is quite literally ethnically ambiguous and coded white. Like an actual fucking colonizer in the game’s story.

Secondly, I didn’t say shit about the roster being too white, I said there wasn’t enough Black and Brown people.

Finally, I don’t give a damn if it’s a little better than SFV (and in terms of Black and Brown representation, it actually has EVEN LESS at launch), it’s not enough.

Also this is revealing a bit much but you know how they won't shut the fuck up about diversity in FF16? Well it's the first time I can EVER remember a main story character having the same accent as me. It's a terrible attempt at geordie but it's there for once. And you know what, the story is actually about regionalism and pertinent to the history and events of where I'm from.

Please tell me they tried to capture the Geordie lingo as well?

If there's a "Howay man" or a "radgie" thrown in, then I might consider playing a Final Fantasy game again.

In the General Guide, a shock thread is described as, "These are threads about news or content that is just disgusting and/or shocking, with little potential for discussion other than outrage. Nobody gains anything from these threads and you should not make them."

Two threads in particular are the very recent threads are the "[SoraNews24] "A friendly reminder not to accidentally get squid sperm in your mouth, it hurts" [NSFW?]" and one posted in early June titled, "Just a friendly reminder that we are all going to die"; the latter's op is just a sentence long and the former clearly written for the sake of the shock value, especially since the OP ends with, "Happy weekend dining, Era! 👋".

Neither of these threads really had much to discuss  and the replies are just filled with memes, disgust comments, innuendos and tons of one sentence comments, mostly jokes. These aren't the only two threads like this, but just two examples of something I've noticed has become more of a trend over the past year on the Etcet side of the Forum.

It honestly feels like "Weekend era" has just become "be as gross/shocking/edgy/dark as possible" now and many of them are just low effort, especially when it feels like long time users get a lot of leeway with these threads that wouldn't normally be acceptable. Personally I find it can often create a boys club feel, feels at best tacky and makes me uncomfortable sometimes, especially when the titles are deliberately vague just to draw in users to make them feel disgusted or uncomfortable when they read the op; plus incredibly annoying just to having to keep ignoring these threads.

I feel like suggestion a NSFW area for the site (within reason) but fear that would only make it worse and just give many of the users a place to be even more uncaring about the feelings of women.

It seems that when you combine this reaction with the bullshit these idiots pulled with Cyberpunk and Hogwarts, which were the two most inclusive AAA games ever made, you get a message that the more you try, the bigger the backlash from the insane terminally online crowd will be.

therefore, breathlessly talk it up at every opportunity in marketing but don't actually do anything of substance -- a.k.a. the Disney model -- and you will fool those who care about it into thinking you've created the greatest most comfy game ever

for example, put one black guy in your game in some out-of-the-way place and make him say "yo yo yo" and "what up" and then prior to release do an interview with polygon where you discuss how you hired sensitivity consultants and a black writer to perfectly encapsulate the POC experience, and you will get off scot free

(but don't say scot free because that's offensive to scots)

This is half of their problem. They're putting people in charge based on stupid bullshit and not on the basis of, are they responsible people to run a forum. As a result they only have a few dozen users who are allowed to participate and lead discussion, everyone else gets banned and the entire forum is in the thrall of some genuine nutters who wouldn't be safe to be left in charge of a bee in a jar.

Their concept of diversity/representation is limited to just black people, and maybe sometimes women. East Asians don't count since they are "white adjacent" apparently. Middle Eastern representation don't count because they are sufficiently "white coded."

It's important to remember that this is because the intersectionality of their ideological premises logically demands this.

1. Arbitrary demographic groups, even if created ad hoc and without clear distinctions, are entitled to a specific "equal" share of everything. Not everything in the aggregate but each literal thing, if they want "access" to it.
2. Everything exists in a finite static zero-sum amount, there is no such thing as profit or mutual benefit, only the deliberate distribution by some unknown all-powerful entity.
3. If you aren't the winner, you're the loser. (And this is an existential problem, losers are eliminated, that's just natural selection.)

From this it's very easy to see that because we can only judge the "distribution" of that which is and it's impossible for that "distribution" to match arbitrary determinations of "equality" for groups there will be a perpetual failure state. Since our theory demands that all distributions are the deliberate result of past actions then clearly equal shares have been stolen from these groups, so equal shares now does not compensate them, thus they must be overrepresented until the "historical wrongs" are corrected for as will be shown by them finally achieving the equal share they are entitled to. This applies to Black bodies, trans bodies, etc. (These first two are two of the most important groups of all because they all collectively have faced the greatest "historical wrongs" ever to happen in slavery and a current ongoing genocide, complete takings of their entitled shares.) We can also see why "make more games/movies/wealth/etc. in more variations" is not a solution because this does not guarantee their equal share of each of these things is not stolen too.

Don't worry though if you're afraid that this means at some point we can stop levelling based on arbitrary superficial distinctions, there's an additional premise:
4. Whites (and especially their cishet males) are genetically and inherently malevolent and evil, exactly as Yakub intended.

From what I understand, Grammer isn’t nuts right wing. He’s had a pretty awful hand with loss in his life, so I’m sure that has made him grab onto something - especially with the pro-life stance - a little more. But, he isn’t backing down from his stance at being a Conservative. Put it this way, Clint Eastwood and Scott Baio are way more nuts than Grammer.

As far as the show goes and the way this is worded, I think it probably means the character is being described as the way he was described strongly in later seasons. Watch the episode when Felicity Huffman guest-stared and her character was having an affair with Frasier’s accountant.
