The case for Sydney Sweeney being right-wing is pretty strong. You would expect a young actress to be liberal, but in this case there's a good amount of countervailing evidence.

*She grew up in northwest Idaho in a religious family
*Her family turned out to be a bunch of MAGAs, with her dad wearing one of those blue line flag shirts.
*Once that came out, she didn't denounce her family or give her money to BLM or anything
*She's never said anything left-wing. In Hollywood, liberals have an incentive to express political opinions, while you'd expect conservatives to stay quiet. This was the theory behind Taylor Swift circa 2015, and I suspect that Swift was more conservative leaning back then, but like a lot of young women she moved left during the Trump era.

One argument against the theory is that she just did a movie mocking Catholicism. I think we can reconcile this by classifying Sweeney as a member of the Nietzschean right. Pro-sex, pro-beauty, and hostile to both Christianity and leftism as two manifestations of human weakness. This would also explain the GLAAD awards, since gay men in Hollywood are very aesthetically and morally pagan/fascist, despite the historical accident of them being on the left in this country due to the power of the Christian right.

The left senses all of this. It's why this discourse has hit such a nerve, and they have to pretend not to care. They dismiss this whole thing as stupid, and then go write 20-30 think pieces on my one sentence tweet.

In an era of mass layoffs at seemingly every major media outlet! They still have the resources to create an entire literature on what Sydney Sweeney's imply about the future of wokeness. This tells us something.

One thing I love about all the "ableist" discourse, especially when it crosses over with the "antiwork" people, is if you have any experience with like Down Syndrome people they love being given "normal" tasks to accomplish and treated as if they're being super helpful like everybody else. Even if it's just mopping the floor or whatever. And the  maybe once a week they go in to do that stuff is a super big deal they're excited for. Like oh yeah, totally everybody needs me here to do this.

Or if you have to help them, you let them do as much as they can and don't take whatever from them but try to show them or teach them. Because they mostly seem to hate being treated as useless or incapable more than anything. The way they get frustrated and impatient seems very different.

Then you hop on Twitter and see this kind of discourse and what kind of people they are.

It's like we blew past tolerating others into being demanded that we be intolerant towards any recognition of difference at all.

We by and large live in the most tolerant and accepting time in history and sometimes I question if that lack of strife allowed people to treat themselves as helpless. Generally, growth happens through trauma and action. That’s what weight lifting and fitness is about. Breaking and surpassing your limits. You’re literally healing yourself stronger. Destigmatization efforts went too far or something. What was supposed to be realizing that things didn't make someone a bad person doesn't mean things still aren't bad. And then people took it further into being positive attributes. Now mental illness and trauma is something people want because it becomes self-justifying to how they want to behave. It's actually doing the inverse of destigmatization. You're basically saying anyone not "perfect" (so everybody) is an ungrateful narcissist asshole and uses their [whatever] purely to deflect criticism.

I mean the above tweet and my comment about Down Syndrome people do seem true to me. You just don't see people with actual trauma and/or disabilities trying to ward off everything by the mere fact they have them. If they mention it it's only in stuff that's relevant and they think you might have possibly missed it. You weren't treating them bad because of "ableism" you were forgetting or not noticing their disability and were treating them abled. It's treating them "normal" out of ignorance not condemning them out of hatred.

I know this isn't the other forums thread but you know that one staff member on ResetERA.com, Ra, that's quadriplegic? Guy basically never brings that up, especially not to the level that everyone else on the forum brings up all their imagined shit. If he ever does that kind of stuff it's about being Black. There's this weird twisted logic to that entire culture of victimhood where reality isn't actually relevant.

The paper, published this week in the Scandinavian Journal of Medicine and Science in Sports, said decisions on eligibility for female competition must consider male development rather than testosterone levels.

"We urge the IOC to re-evaluate the recommendations of their framework to include a comprehensive understanding of the biological advantages of male development to ensure fairness and safety in female sports," the paper said.

"Sports face the uncomfortable reality that the inclusion of transgender women in female sports categories cannot be reconciled with fairness, and in some instances safety, for females in athletic sports."

The tide has well and truly turned on this shit now. Took the real scientists a while to push back against those gender studies clowns, but they have found their voice.

American Lia Thomas is challenging the exclusion of transgender swimmers from women's events by taking World Aquatics to the Court of Arbitration for Sport, alleging that the rules introduced in 2022 amount to discrimination.

The academics, who include sports scientists and biologists from around the world, also called for women to be recognised as key stakeholders in the decision-making process on inclusion in sport.

The IOC framework mentions only consultations with athletes directly impacted.

"The IOC must consider the rights and opinions of all stakeholders, explicitly including female athletes as primary stakeholders," the paper said.

"Female athletes should be able to speak freely, without fear of reprisal or punishment."

I'm glad to see some pushback on the testosterone thing. Activists try to keep that as the be-all and end-all because it's the framing where they think they can win – a trans woman on HRT can get testosterone levels below a biological woman, therefore the competition is level. She used to work on World of Warcraft as a UI designer from 2008 to 2010 or something. Then the unreleased Kingdom of Amalur MMO and after that she worked on mobile shovelware.

Seems the new studio is her and some old MMO devs mostly.
