Too much to quote but the article is really a perfect description of the 2016-2020 era of hyper identity politics and scamming. Also an example of what the dynamic is often really about: taking over administrative positions via identity based blackmail. Hire me or you're racist/sexist/etc. 

A lot of the problems in academia aren't because universities are inherently bad. It's because extremists with questionable qualifications force themselves into positions of power and then start doing insane shit. To go back to the Miami Vice chick, I guarantee you her "study" of a guy showing a meh movie to his girlfriend will be greenlit by some feckless white guy or gal at a leftist publication. For fear of being accused of racism if he/she declines to run it.

In both cases the polls got it wrong or didn't catch a late surge quick enough.
I think a bunch of polls were a bit off with the Labour victory in Ingerland too, showing a much closer race than the final result.

Related to that, I made the mistake of reading up on the latest Star Wars culture war thing. tbh I fell for some of the nonsense where the issues nerds had were diversity and gay and women etc. There’s some of that. But it’s mostly about portraying the Jedi as corrupt cops. That and it’s just not very good at executing the message.

To that end, it’s a worthy follow up to the last jedi discourse. Always weird how these chuds who were happy with rogue one having a lady lead and diverse cast suddenly became ultra nazi for the next movie.
